Here #SPBalasubrahmanyam talks about dubbing @ikamalhaasan's 'Dashavataram' into Telugu, where he rendered his voice for numerous characters! What an extraordinary mimic! 🙏

He put the Lord to sleep with this song. May he too rest in music at the lord's feet!🙏
#SPBalasubramanyam loved life! He loved to live and enjoy everything about life! He said so, in many interviews. 🙏😭😔

Got this late last night from octogenarian Susheela amma. A heartfelt tribute to #SPBalasubrahmanyam. She is currently the only person who has seen his entire career from day 1.
Posting it in two parts. 🙏
Part 2. She talks about how #SPBalasubramanyam impressed the great Ghantasala. 🙏
At a function in honour of Carnatic maestro Dr Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna, #SPB who considered him a father figure, was asked to speak. He paid his respects. The maestro replied saying "If Balu did a lot of Sadhana, he can sing like me. But how much ever...
...Sadhana I do, I will never be able to sing like Balu!".
#SPBalasubramanyam took this comment as the greatest blessing in his life. He even announced that he wanted this statement inscribed on his Samadhi! He mentioned this in numerous interviews later! 🙏🙏🙏

There are many asking why a burial. He belonged to a sect of Lingadhari Brahmins who take the Shiva Panchakshari Deeksha. Their tradition is to bury. No Anyesti. Only Khananam. So the family has followed that.🙏
The Aradhya Brahmins are an ancient Vedic sect of Shaivam in Andhra Pradesh. They are not lingayat or Jangamas. They are initiated into the Shiva Panchakshari Deeksha and wear a lingam on themselves. They followed a very religious and highly disciplined lifestyle!
Some of the prominent personalities among them are #SPBalasubrahmanyam, Director K Viswanath, actor Chandra Mohan, spiritual guru Kandukuri Sivananda Murthy and so on.
Check him doing a Pada puja to playback singer KJ Yesudas, along with his whole family. If he was so brahminical, he wouldn't have been doing any of this! Blabbermouths should shut up!
🙏
And there are still idiots discussing why he was buried calling him abrahmanic and what not! 🙄🤦♂️
Why can't they do some research!
This is a brief history of the community of brahmins Sri #SPBalasubrahmanyam hailed from. 🙏
This beautiful video where he pays his respects to the media baron Ramoji Rao garu of @Eenadu_Newspapr for making him a household name with 'Paadutha Theeyaga'. 🙏
While everyone rushed to his farmhouse to pay their final respects, his close friend and iconic music director Ilayaraja sir went to Tiruvannamalai and lit a Moksha Deepam for him. 😭
Arunachala Shiva! 🙏🙏🙏

Truly, once in a century does someone of his eminence walk this earth!
Chirasmaraneeya!

One of the greatest achievements in my life was to get his appreciation. Something impossible to get! He was not an easy person to please! Brutal in his opinion and candid in his words, he called a spade a spade!
His and Amma Garu’s warmth and love is a lifetime blessing!
🙏🏼☺️
An old thread when he passed away , three years ago.

A traditional Utsava Sampradaya Keerthana by Vid @AbhismRti for this beautiful evening. Offered at the annual Aradhana in Thiruvaiyaru.
It is said that Tyagaraja Swamy was inspired by the procession of Vaduvoor Ramar and composed this!
Countless stories of courage in every corner! A thousand sacrifices! No colour, caste, creed, age...all of them were Aasthikas. Poets, dancers, scholars, writers, Jeeyar Swamys, commonfolk...All diehard devotees of Sri Ranganathaswamy.
In the 1940s, Andhra was caught in being highly inspired by Bengali literature. Telugu writers and literary figures tried to emulate similar content in their works.
Short thread!

Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay's famous novel 'Devdas' was made into an opera in 1940. It had over two dozen songs. This particular song was composed by the great Balantrapu Rajanikantha Rao Garu. However it never made it into the final opera but became extremely popular on radio.
It was sung by another stalwart Carnatic classical musician Sri Voleti Venkateswarlu. It became a hit and later Rao regretted not including it in the opera.
Decades later the same song was taught by veteran Vidwan Sri Malladi Suribabu Garu to our favourite @_RamanaB_. 🤩🙏🏼
Auspicious morning of Magha Shukla Ashtami when Bheeshma, the grand old Pitamaha of the Mahabharata, completed revealing the greatness of Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam to the Pandavas, as he lay on a bed of arrows in Kurukshetra.
A short thread
🙂🙏🙂🙏🙂
In Shanthi Parva of Mahabharatam, we know Bheeshma decided to leave his mortal coil on the 8th phase in bright fortnight of Magha, Magha Shukla Ashtami, also known as #BheeshmaAshtami. He was already on a bed of arrows over the last few Pakshas.
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bheeshma was not his original name. He was King Devavrata. Due to the uncompromising Pratigya he took, he was addressed as 'Bheeshma'. He was also a master of Vedas and Shastras. Hence, out of everyone in the Kuru clan, he was addressed as "Bheeshmacharya" with reverence.
