To be sure I had taken threats to her by Maharashtra Home Minister lightly, nothing more than abusive bluster by the slighted.

1. I am appalled to see @BloomsburyIndia, publisher of two of my books, buckle under threats by fascists and withdraw the book Delhi Riots - 2020. I stand in complete solidarity with the authors.

This is an assault on Freedom of Expression and on those who cherish this freedom.
2. A book is an idea, one you may staunchly agree or disagree with. And an idea cannot be destroyed. It cannot fall victim to threats and blackmail by fascists. Books last because ideas do.

This decision by Bloomsbury should be condemned by ALL writers and readers.
3. If Bloomsbury does not retract its decision, my co-author and I have decided that we will return the substantial advance paid to us by Bloomsbury for our forthcoming book.

We cannot allow our book to be published by a house that does not respect Freedom of Expression. Image

Indian exports to China: $ 18 billion.
Chinese exports to India: $ 73 billion.

So many from Sushant's film fraternity have linked his suicide to "mental illness" without even realising how patronising it is. He was a brilliant, well-read, engineer deeply interested in philosophy and astronomy; with his home full of science memorabilia and instruments. 1/2
2/2 Curious about life, its fickleness, absurdity, he was a misfit in Mumbai, and aware of it. One need not be "mentally ill" to think of suicide.

Sure, Vikram. Sorry, my intention wasn't to denigrate Clinical Depression as a cause but merely to mention the reality of Existential Depression, also a psychiatric term often wrongly clubbed in mental illness, that leads brilliant minds to commit suicide.

THIS, for me, was the most important message of the speech, and if realised we are truly looking at a new India.

44% of our 475 million-strong labour force is in the Agricultural sector (2% in the West); and yet the latter contributes only 12.5% to GDP.
As far as Science and Technology is concerned, this is draconian and monumentally regressive.

Most hi-tech equipments used in the domain of the sciences, esp Biology, are not made in India. How will Government research centres and labs function? MADNESS.
Local has to be sector-based. You can go local in Agriculture or Tourism, but not when it comes to Science and security.

Uncle chips over Pringles; Amul over Häagen Dazs; Ajanta Ellora over Big Ben - sure. But Guduchi over Bedaquiline; Shilajit over Viagra; Tejas over Rafale?
