Next week, the Government will announce its 'Plan for Living with Covid-19' in England.

Around 500,000 people in the UK are immunocompromised, including those who have had kidney transplants (1/4)

Many do not have the same level of protection from #Covid19 vaccines as everyone else. Alongside 17 other charities, we're setting out 5 key tests that the plan must meet to protect and support them to live with Covid-19 (2/4)

🔸Directly address people’s concerns
🔸Ensure quick access to #COVID19 treatments
🔸Maintain free lateral flow tests
🔸Improve employment protection and support
🔸A plan for preventative treatments

Vaccine effectiveness in the immunocompromised - a thread 💉

Real life data showing the impact of Covid-19 on people who were fully vaccinated has been published by the Office on National Statistics for the period between Jan-July 2021

This shows the difference vaccination can make; 0.5% (252) of the 43,956 total deaths were people who were fully vaccinated. However, 13.1% of those deaths were in immunocompromised people, & 76.6% of the 252 deaths were in clinically extremely vulnerable people (2/5)

We believe that this group of people continue to need targeted support with clear advice as to how to keep themselves safe as well as clear guidance for employers about keeping their CEV staff #SafeAtWork (3/5)

We have updated our kidneycareuk.org/coronavirus information in regards to a specific update for people in England who are eligible for the third dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and how they will be contacted (1/5)

A letter has been sent to all GP practices and NHS trusts in England and explains the actions that NHS organisations should take as part of the third dose roll out (2/5)

📢Hospital consultants have been asked to check which of their patients are eligible for a 3rd dose.
📢If the hospital has a vaccination hub onsite, it is recommended people are invited for the vaccination at the hospital site & the consultant should recommend the timing (3/5)
