Walter Mosley in 'An Awkward Series of Conversations,' a short story in "The Awkward Black Man."
“You called me African-American, and I don’t answer to that description. People who come from another country to this one use the hyphenate name.
You know, Italians who came over a generation or two back calling themselves Italian-Americans. Maybe they kept up contact with home or followed cultural norms that are particularly Italian.
But a man like me, a man whose ancestors were kidnapped, chained, and dragged over here centuries ago is not, cannot be, a hyphenate. At least not the kind of hyphenate that you say. You might call me an Abductee-American, an originally Unwilling-American.
You might say that I’m a partly Disenfranchised American. But African-American? I mean, even if my mama was from Guinea, you’d do better to call me a Guinean rather than an African-American. Africa is a continent, not a country, not even one race.
You don’t use the term White-American because that has no cultural basis; even saying Euro-Americans makes very little sense.”“We say African-American because that is the parlance,”Rahlina interjected. “Used to be the parlance was colored, Negro, Afro, nigger, coon, jigaboo.
Parlance don’t make a word right. And I refuse to be called after a continent that no one in my line remembers."

He sure can write. Abductee-American!

The red death had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous. Blood was its Avatar and its seal -- the madness and the horror of blood. There were sharp pains, and sudden dizziness, and then profuse bleeding at the pores, with dissolution.
The scarlet stains upon the body and especially upon the face of the victim, were the pest ban which shut him out from the aid and from the sympathy of his fellow-men. And the whole seizure, progress, and termination of the disease, were incidents of half an hour.
But Prince Prospero was happy and dauntless and sagacious. When his dominions were half depopulated, he summoned to his presence a thousand hale and light-hearted friends from among the knights and dames of his court,

So, as much as I despise Brad Parscale, I don't understand the reason for the flying tackle.

And yes, I know if he were Black, he would probably be dead. But the end result should be police treating everyone well and with respect. The goal is not to get the police to treat white people badly but to treat Black people well.
I would think good policing would always be about de-escalation. But then, that's why I think most police are horseshit.

Coverage of the Proud Boys always reminds me of my first lesson in media bias. The ironically named "Right to Life" forced birthers had a protest at Capitol in St. Paul while I was in college. Friends and I went to counter-protest. It was winter & there were a few dozen RTLers
and a few hundred counter-protesters. Not a big protest in the grand scheme of things, but hey, you try protesting in January in MN. It was piss-your-pants cold. Anyway, to my surprise the St. Paul Pioneer Press had a big picture on the front of the metro section
It was closely cropped, cropping out the tens times larger counter-protesters, so the only visible protesters were the RTLers. The language was carefully constructed to give a false impression something like hundreds gathered in the cold to voice their opinion on abortion.

The Proud Boys chose Delta Park because they are racist and chose a park that is central to Black Portland history. They chose it to insult and flaunt the impunity of whiteness where the racist scars of history remain.
To understand Portland and Oregon, you must always remember that it although it was a free state, it was not abolitionist. It was intended to be Black-free. The Oregon Consitution prohibited Black people from living in and owning property or a business in the state.
Obviously, the 14th Amendment overruled the state constitution, but redlining, racism, and the Klan managed to keep Black people out pretty effectively. The only real influx of Black people were railroad employees and they were allowed to live in nearby Albina neighborhood

I know some white people will excuse the injustice in Louisville because the Attorney General making the case is a Black man. Don't be reductionist. Black people can blindly support impunity for police murder, too. Cameron is married to McConnell's granddaughter.
Daniel Cameron is allied with white supremacy. He is on the side of state-sponsored terrorism.
Have you seen the Black Doll/White Doll experiment? I wish people just watched the original and did not recreate it because it is cruel, but still it is worth watching. It will break your heart. Daniel Cameron has internalized white supremacy to the degree he cosigns murder. Sad
