As promised, here goes the latest developments. Long post warning. Those who just want the gist of the matter, it was a 8 points agenda - 5 agreed, delivered & resolved, 2 agreed but yet to be delivered & 1 the club has requested for reconsideration. #EastBengalFC#IndianFootball
Let's first take a look at the 5 points that are now resolved:
1. Under no circumstances #EastBengal can drag Shree Cement to court on any of the points covered in the agreement. The club has to give legal affidavit on bond paper. Both are on the same page here. #IndianFootball
2. Legal recognizance must be provided by the club executive committee that the 3 points opposed during EGM would never be brought up in any future disputes. This too was agreed upon. #EastBengal#IndianFootball#ISL#EBFC
3. Each of the members who opposed the 3 points during EGM must submit personal affidavit. Earlier the club had submitted a combined bond. Individual affidavits have been submitted now by as many as 6 members. #EastBengal#IndianFootball#ISL
4. In addition to football, all the other sporting events that the club will participate (cricket/hockey) will be controlled solely by Shree Cement. All existing sports committees will be dissolved & they will have no say in any sporting affairs. Proposal accepted by #EastBengal.
5. The already submitted paperworks have some loosely defined legal clauses which have to be revised according to the draft submitted by Shree Cement legal team so that there is no grey line. Everything has to be black & white. Accepted & revised by #EastBengal. #IndianFootbsll
Now coming on to the points that are accepted but not yet revised/delivered:
1. Club finances must be audited by a reputed independent auditor. Available audit report is "insufficient". Last 5 years statements to be submitted no later than Wednesday. #IndianFootball#EastBengal
2. The club is yet to provide details of its current liabilities - both in terms of finances as well as fixed assets. Only the declared/accepted liabilities will be taken care of by Shree Cement. If any future liability comes up, #EastBengal club will have to settle that.
Last but not the least, #EastBengal has requested reconsideration from Shree Cement regarding the membership authority. The initial agreement has made it clear that all membership, both existing & new, will be at the sole discretion of SCL. #IndianFootball#ISL#EBFC
Which means, Shree Cement can terminate any existing membership or accept new ones without consulting with the #EastBengal executive committee. The officials desperately want to retain membership rights as it is directly linked with future club elections. #IndianFootball
In a nutshell, the ice is melting. Like all other #EastBengal fans, I sincerely hope that all the differences will be resolved by Wednesday. Let's keep the fingers crossed. And if you are here after reading all the tweets in this long thread, then thanks for bearing with me. 🙏🙏

The curious case of Jaime Santos Colado: an #IndianFootball version of Ozil-Arsenal & Bale-Real saga in the making?
Has a valid contract till 2021. New owners no longer interested. Mediation by #EastBengal for a mutual exit failed. He is adamant to see through the contract. 1/2
It's worth noting that #EastBengal had signed indemnity bond during its seperation from Quess, so the club can't terminate his contract unilaterally. Shree Cement has already lined up his replacement & now seeking legal discourse to negotiate a painstaking exit for Colado. 2/3
The replacement lined up for Colado is also wanted by few other clubs. He is interested in #ISL, but has given a deadline of Wednesday to make it happen. Colado still enjoys support of some #EastBengal officials & Shree Cement is not too happy with that. More to follow.
