(1,6) I struggled with whether or not to post about this but decided I need to take a stand. The @browardschools School District failed in deadly ways. My daughter and 16 others were murdered because of their failures.
sun-sentinel.com/local/broward/…
(2,6) Since that day, this district has referred to what happened as "that unfortunate incident." Since that day, this district has accepted grants and donations in the millions of dollars related to their failure, while spending your school dollars to avoid accountability to
(3,6) the families. In fact, they even applied for & received $10,000,000 from the federal government that was referred to as a Parkland Victims fund. Not a penny was for the victims. However, all of that is trivial compared to them asking us to prove that we suffered as a
(4,6) result of losing our loved ones. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THEY EVER GET HANDS ON MY FAMILIES MEDICAL RECORDS. Let me be clear, I visit my daughter at the cemetery because of the failures of Superintendent @RobertwRuncie & those he put in charge. My family missed her
(5,6) high school years at a Broward School because of these failures. We will miss watching her grow up. We spend our life dealing with the reality of what happened. Now they want us to prove that we are upset? We need to prove that this has been detrimental to our mental
(6,6) health? Bob Runcie should resign today and he should take Eugene Pettis, the district attorney, who continues to call this "that unfortunate incident" with him. My efforts to sue this district and hold it accountable will never stop.

(1,11) My wife @jguttenbergot does not say much publicly, but when she does, you need to listen. As always, she nails this.

For anyone still undecided on who to vote for, Fred and I can list a million reasons to vote for Biden and zero for Trump.
(2,11) This election specifically isn't about republican vs. democrat. It's about kicking out horrific and offensive behavior, selfish behavior, and lying behavior. It's about bringing in decency, civility, honor, caring about others and respect.
(3,11) If you are still undecided and you knew Jaime, remember that the gun laws that were in place at the time of the shooting allowed for the killer to possess a gun. There were no red flag laws. Trump doesn't support gun safety measures of any kind including red flag laws &

(1,7) It took me a day to figure out how to respond to this. Yesterday, the current occupant of the White House defended a white supremacist teen with an AR 15 who went looking for conflict and committed murder.
news.yahoo.com/trump-defends-…
(2,7) This was the inevitable and predictable escalation as the AR 15 has been the weapon of choice this year by White Supremacists to intimidate @MomsDemand and elected government officials.
(3,7) Today, I would like to say thank you to the current occupant of the White House. Thank you for bringing sunlight to your bullshit. With this defense, thank you for showing us clearly how you plan to divert America from almost 200,00 coronavirus deaths.

(1,7) Since many are asking, I HAVE NEVER MET TRUMP OR BEEN TO THE WHITE HOUSE. Here are facts. Jaime was murdered by a teenage boy who was a FORMER student and out of school for almost two years. He was able to legally acquire his AR 15 and the ammunition.
(2,7) This boy put it in a guitar bag & simply walked into the school. As happens many of cases of gun violence, the killer just walks in. Whatever people want to say, this mass shooting was a failure of gun policy and of human failure to protect and cowardice at that time.
(3,7) For me, any failure to address the gun in this incident is a failure to deal with the reality of why my daughter died. When Betsy DeVos announced her plan to look at Parkland and come out with a report, she specifically said that they would look at everything but the gun.

(1,5) This week, the RNC will distort the reality of gun violence. They will blame it on everything but guns while propping up the NRA. They will yell 2A under attack and that criminals will be running the streets. They will scream BS about defunding police.
(2,5) Lets be clear of facts: The 2A is not under attack, our children and families are. Joe Biden has a gun safety plan to do something about this and a plan to not only fully fund police but to add resources. Regarding the current violence that the trump team highlights,
(3,5) just a reminder that it is being brought to you during and by the trump presidency. Finally, regarding school violence, the RNC will blame all of that on behavioral intervention programs. While my daughters killer was a former student, he was out of that school for almost

(1,4) Thank you @BradleyWhitford for writing foreword to my book "Find The Helpers." Excerpts in the thread below.

"Soon he seemed to adopt the mantra of the great John Lewis, that when we are confronted with injustice, we must be willing to get into trouble, good trouble,
(2,4) necessary trouble. There he was at the Kavanaugh hearing, shunned as he tried to shake the nominee’s hand. I cheered when his inability to contain his outrage in the face of Trump’s lies got him kicked out of the State of the Union.
(3,4) Fred Guttenberg is one of those rarest of human being who, as they endure the unimaginable, have the strength to see beyond their own suffering. They hear a call to action to do whatever they can to alleviate that suffering in others and in doing so, to hold this country up

(1,5) I have been blessed to be a dad of 2 kids. Today, I will spend a quiet Fathers Day with my son Jesse and my family. We will get through the day as we always do, as a family. However, we cannot ignore that this will be our 3rd Fathers Day without Jaime and that my family
(2,5) was devastated by gun violence and that Jaime will not physically be with us. Our life has changed so much since she has been gone. This year alone I missed getting to teach Jaime to drive, throwing her a sweet 16, and harassing a likely boyfriend. She missed the
(3,5) coronavirus pandemic. Getting through this has required the help of many and I am thankful for the many amazing people we have in our life. Jaime, with you on my shoulders I wrote my book about it called "Find The Helpers."
