In which the president glorifies unprovoked violence against peaceful demonstrators. 1/
Let's be clear about what happens in this video:

Protesters lie in the street in an act of civil disobedience. The truck could have easily driven around them but the driver fires gas at them. Protesters respond by swinging bicycles and throwing objects at the truck. 2/
The driver gets out and aims a weapon at the protesters, threatening to kill them, and is celebrated for his actions by the President of the United States.

What a disgusting moment for our country, and shame on anyone who continues to enable our fascistic leader. /end
The "hero" in this story was charged by Georgia prosecutors with aggravated assault and reckless conduct. Law and order! newsweek.com/georgia-man-ar…

Get ready for a lot of "sure you were right about Trump but did you have to be so mean about it?"
"You were running around with your hair on fire for so long I tuned you out until it got really bad and started affecting me. That's on you."
"A lot of people who were a lot worse than me. I mostly stayed quiet, and didn't join the attacks on the NeverTrumpers. That counts for something, right?"

And now the president himself. This is madness.
Anthony Fauci bet that he could work with Trump, that he would be more effective on the inside than out.

Whatever merit there might have been to that strategy, it has now failed.

Dr. Fauci should resign and tell the American public the whole truth.

I consider myself a big tent NeverTrumper.

There are voters who will never vote for Trump and will never vote for a progressive Democrat.

There are also right-of-center voters (like me) who see the unique danger of a Trump second term and are willing to support Biden. 1/
Attempts to bully and hector the first group into voting for Biden won't work, and might even be counterproductive.

However, it's odd that the first group takes such offense at the idea that they'd be even asked to consider supporting Trump's main opponent. 2/
If you press them hard enough, they'll say they're staying home or looking for a conservative protest candidate. But mostly they're pretty quiet about their decision not to support the president's re-election 3/

“I don’t support Trump, I just want the people who oppose him to fail.”
One point I’ll give to the anti-anti-Trumpers.

Their main objective isn’t to promote Trump, even if they’re ok with that outcome.

Their primary concern is to protect *other* Republicans and conservatives from the consequences of their Trump support.
Part of that entails exiling and marginalizing anyone who openly rejected Trump. It’s why they’re so threatened by the Romneys and Bulwarks.

They want the heir to Trumpism to be someone who bent the knee.

This @nytimes article from February 28th is an extraordinary document.
nytimes.com/2020/02/28/us/…
"Privately he has been consumed by concern that his enemies will use the coronavirus and the economic impact it has against him as he seeks re-election."

This was reported in February.
So ask yourself, who was really politicizing the response to the coronavirus? Who lied to the public about the danger? What has been the cost of those lies?

I have no words. Unspeakably reckless.
Last month, the president said "it's going to disappear. One day it's like a miracle, it will disappear."

Today, with deaths mounting and hospitals overwhelmed, he hypes miracle cures on Twitter.
Again, this is the product of vanity. And it communicates the wrong message: that we must pray for a miracle to save us.
