NBSA has also warned @ABPNews@NewsNationTV@abpmajhatv for its violations of the code of ethics and broadcasting standards. News Nation had aired the picture of SSR's dead body but had sincerely apologised during the hearing at NBSA.
The order notes my objection to the sensational news coverage of SSR's death in which I described it as "abhorrent, shameful, insensitive, anti-human rights, unprofessional and sensational". @SaketGokhale@MnshaP@Tweet2Rhea@rohini_sgh
Truth must win. Hate must stop.
Republic is not a part of NBSA. So no action can be taken against them.
The maximum of penalty that can be imposed is 1 Lakh. Yes, it's peanuts for these channels.
Reforms are badly required in this self-regulatory body!
Sharing some imp findings of Justice (Retd.) AK Sikri, Chairman NBSA-
"Mere discussion or even advocacy of a particular cause howsoever unpopular is at the heart of Art 19(1)(a). It is only when such discussion or advocacy reaches the level of incitement that Art 19(2) kicks in".
"While it is the duty of the news channel to report news....it is equally imp to present the news in a manner which does not violate the privacy of the dead nor sensationalise a tragic incident. It is important that the dead must not be subjected to unnecessary media glare".
"A question arises as to what was the objective in flashing the Taglines “Aise kaise hit-wicket ho gaye Sushant?”, “Sushant zindagi ki pitch par hit-wicket kaise ho gaye” & ‘Sushant itne ashant kaise’, when the person is dead."
"the Tagline “Patna ka Sushant, Mumbai me fail kyu?”, appears to attribute failure to the person who is dead. It also tends to give the impression that committing suicide is failure and therefore the Tagline violates the privacy and dignity of the deceased."
"While the media cannot be stopped from reporting news about celebrities, however, a question arises as to what was the purpose of interviewing the aggrieved family members who were in a state of shock or showing images of grieving members."
These are exactly what I complained.

On April, 22 the Modi govt had announced a special package of 15,000 crores for the fight against corona. What the govt. concealed is the fact that the entire amount has been taken as a loan from int banks.
The PM-CARES had collected more than 9,000 crores by May 20, as per an @IndiaSpend report. But that figure was only acc. to publicly available press releases. The original amount was much more than that!
Instead of spending the amount from the entirely opaque PM-CARES fund, Modi govt was keener on borrowing money from international banks like Asian Development Bank, IBRD and AIIB. I spoke to @Jayati1609, UNDP award-winning development economist and JNU professor & she said this-
I have filed a PIL in the Madras High Court, through advocate MV Swaroop @TnagarTornado who was kind enough to take up this matter and argue it in court, seeking to strengthen the RTI regime in this country.
1. The constitution of a "Special COVID Bench" at the Central Info Commission & Tamil Nadu SIC to hear pandemic related matters on a priority basis because they may become infructuous if the normal waiting time of 2 years is followed.
2. It also seeks a unique email ID to be created by every public authority to receive RTIs & Appeals concerning life and liberty during this pandemic. This was ordered by the CIC in April but as expected, no action by @DoPTGoI
I have received a Notice for hearing from the News Broadcasting Standards Authority. The matter relates to my complaint with NHRC alleging sensational & anti-human rights coverage of #SushantSinghRajput suicide case by- 1. @aajtak 2. @ZeeNews 3. @NewsNationTV 4. @ABPNews

The complaint was lodges 3 months back. NBSA didn't bother to conduct a hearing. Only after the Bombay High Court passed an order in this regard did the NBSA finally wake up.
Action taken on my complaints will be submitted to the Court in an affidavit.

The media coverage since my complaint in the actor's case has only touched new lows every single day. It has turned into a huge platform for witch hunt, conspiracy theories and all sorts of nonsense.
Would request all of u to share some verified video footages/pics of the..

A continuous assault on transparency by the Modi govt since 2014.
They don't even listen to the Supreme Court of this country. Despite SC ordering appointment of Info Commissioners in Nov 2019, till date those 4 vacancies haven't been filled.
The Centre filed a so-called "Compliance report" informing the SC that they have complied with its orders.
But vacancies still existed!
Is this not contempt of court? Is this not lowering the dignity of the Supreme Court? How can one so brazenly lie on an affidavit?

Now last month, I requested the now retired Chief IC Bimal Julka to constitute a "COVID-special bench" to expeditiously hear all matters relating to the pandemic.
"You can't have everything your way Mr. Das" is what I got as a response from the Chief.
Section 35 of the draft PDPB said that the central government can direct any agency of the government to process personal data if it thinks it is necessary in the interest of, and to prevent offences against the “sovereignty and integrity of India.... 1/3
..."the security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States, public order.” This essentially takes away all safeguards against abusive datacollection, and processing by the government and gives unrestrained powers to government agencies to access the data of citizens...
Other damaging provisions include clauses proposing verification of social-media users; government access to anonymised data or non-personal data by directing data fiduciaries; lack of safeguards for anonymisation; and weakening of the Data Protection Authority, which....
