On #AirForceDay , I recall a film that left a long lasting impact on me. Mind you, the film was sans the usual glamour attached with any film based on defence.
Vijeta!
Directed by the brilliant Govind Bijlani and produced by Mr. Shashi Kapoor, who I consider one of the finest
Ever film producer in Bollywood. Almost every film of his was a class. I use the wird Almost because Shashi Kapoor also produced the forgettable Ajooba (a nice take on Arabian nights).
Coming back to Vijeta, the film is about a confused young man (Kunal Kapoor) who plays the
Role of Angad, son of Shashi Kapoor ( portraying the role of a c grade film producer ) and Rekha.
The boy joins Air Force, much to the chagrin of his father.
The training, the war sequence and the way planes were shown, only someone like Nihlani could.
Angad is no
Out of the world hero. He is a simple guy, goes to war, crashes and comes back alive but overall the film creates an impact. And develops huge respects for Air Force.
And I remember the film for Amrish Puri saab who played the role of Varghese the Air Force instructor.
I think that it is through Amrish Puri's character, his dialogues, his persona that Nihlani portrays and conveys the attitude of Air Force. It's never say die persona.
If you get the film, watch it once. For great story telling and a brilliant plot.

That these names are all MUSIC DIRECTORS who ,amongst others, also made Lata ji sing and some great songs if their era.
@y_kale , continuing his spellbinding article brings it sequel this time. But do read the first part before reading this one and feel as numb as I did.
Sequels of some movies or novels are always awaited but this time around, I was waiting expectantly for @y_kale to write the second part.
I am not a fan of 40s or even many 50s songs. I find many of then boring but then I am not Yogesh!
