If you're writing IELTS to come to Canada as a permanent resident, you will do the General Training test

Try to also work towards CLB 9 & above (in IELTS this is at least Listening - 8, others 7)

CLB means Canadian Language Benchmark, and that's what your IELTS is converted to.
This is what the IELTS to Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) conversion looks like for Canadian immigration

The highest CLB you can get is 10. And the higher your CLB the higher your overall point (when added to your age, work experience, education, etc)

NEWS: Canada has announced 3 new study & work permit measures

- Students who are doing a program that is 8-12 months in duration, starting from May to September 2020 will be able to complete their entire program in their country & still be eligible for a Postgraduate work permit
- Students can now study online while overseas up until April 30, 2021 with no time deducted from the length of their postgraduate work permit... as long as they complete 50 per cent of their studies in Canada.
- Students who enrolled in a program with a start date between May and Sep 2020 and study online up to April 30, 2021 and who graduate from more than one eligible program may combine both when they apply for a PGWP, as long as 50 per cent of the studies are completed in Canada.

Canadian Visa applications are mostly submitted online, and there is a file size limit of 4MB for each file/doc you are to provide

If you are finding it difficult to keep your file size within the limit, these are some tips on how to merge, convert, and reduce your files

- PDF format
Recreate using “lowest file size” option available
Save images with a resolution of 96 DPI (dots per inch)
Remove unnecessary images

- JPG format
Scan docs at lower resolution
Remove empty spaces around the image
Shrink the image
Reduce JPG image quality
- TIFF/PNG format
Scan docs at lower resolution
Crop image to remove empty space around it
Shrink image
Save file in JPG format

- DOC/DOCX format
Remove unnecessary images, formatting & macros
Save file as recent Word version
Reduce file size of the images before adding to docs
