This isn’t about “centrists.” It’s about winning Pennsylvania. Now, if you believe that asserting the most climate-forward position for the next four weeks is a winning strategy/worth the risk, fine. But that’s what this is about: PA as the likely tipping point electoral state.
I get it’s a tactical move for some groups to say nothing but full GND support should be met with anything but derision. I question whether that position, in this moment, with these stakes, is the wise one to be more broadly adopted by the Left— for the next TWENTY SEVEN DAYS.
The reason Pence et al keep pushing on this is they want to drive a wedge between winning PA and youth/Green support.
So...consider that.
Also read the “Biden plan for a clean energy revolution and environmental justice,” which is far to the left of Obama policy and quite aligned with GND on many fronts. joebiden.com/climate-plan/
Now it is quite possible that Biden camp got overspooked by this poll (39% of PAers wanted to ban fracking nytimes.com/2020/01/27/us/…) when subsequent polls have found them ~split. (pghcitypaper.com/pittsburgh/new…). But that’s what this is about.
If to eliminate fracking in PA or anywhere, I humbly suggest that much tighter methane emission regulation, massively more investment in green energy, an embrace of even existing clean water laws, rejoining Paris Accords is the better path. Also (more to OK) quake liability.

The @SongExploder for Netflix version of “Wait For It” was a perfect introduction to song writing for my 12-yo, thank you @HrishiHirway@Lin_Manuel et al.
Ok I remember “Losing My Religion” as being a Michael Stipe’s public coming out. Am I miss remembering that time table?
Or the coming out to anyone who doesn’t need it absolutely spelled out? Anyway, completely get not wanting to discuss your 30-yo (gulp) song via your sexuality forever but well anyway, that’s how I remember it being heard and appreciated.
1/ Today we launch the definitive, enraging, timeline of nine months of Trump's COVID denial. I highly suggest you read it, share it, and if you're say a journalist or organizer, use it to help fortify your own arguments. motherjones.com/politics/2020/…
1/ Good evening, in no way should @SusanPage be moderating this debate, given that she threw a party for Pence's mentee and head of CMS, Seema Verma motherjones.com/politics/2020/…
2/ Still outraged by this horrible breech of ethics on the part of @SusanPage and the Commission on Presidential Debates.
3/ One thing for journalists to attend parties for government officials. But to THROW them? Maybe if you're life-long pals and its a pre-wedding thing. But just to curry favor under guise of celebrating "girls night"? KEEP IT motherjones.com/politics/2019/…
This hedge against a likely Biden win (legally at least) is why this company needs to be at the least broken up and subjected to far greater regulation and at best plowed under with a layer of salt on top.
