The current @prioritiesUSA Electoral College projection shows a close race in many states, but no clear path to 270 for Trump:
This is Democratic super PAC data - but it's not just polling Democrats. And these numbers seem to point to why the race is turning: low favorability toward Trump, less confidence in the track of the country especially with COVID, and Biden starting to get an enthusiasm lead:
Trump's own COVID infection seems to have had a clear impact on his numbers:
"The president’s fundamental challenge is people don’t believe him," @guycecil says, arguing that this explains why Trump's attacks on Biden and his own ads don't seem to have had much of an impact. "They just don’t believe he’s telling the truth."

Aides are insisting Trump's campaign event at White House isn't political b/c they're not providing materials: "We're not handing out anything but people can bring things onto the complex," is the line, per pool reporter @toddgillman.

Also: attendance downgraded to "hundreds"
Excerpts from a speech that the White House says has absolutely nothing to do with his campaign: Image
Doing a speech in which “Blexit” is a central topic is the latest example of how Trump continues to look at the world from inside the Fox/conservative media fishbowl. No one outside it would have ever even heard of this term.

court expansion is a real question Biden will grapple w/if he wins--but it's also a perfect example of how skilled Republicans are at shifting the conversation. They've broken precedent on two seats now, and are stoking outrage about how Dems *might* break precedent in the future
in the VP debate on Wednesday, Pence literally used the court question to shift the conversation when pressed about the health care plan that Trump has been promising for 4 years and still hasn't been able to produce--but because the Court question is new, that gets the coverage
Essentially, Rs are saying they hit Democrats 2x b/c they could, but they want Dems to commit to not punching back if/when they can. (Also:even if Biden is for expansion, doesn't mean he'd have enough senators to go along w/it. Almost every R senator has backed both Court moves)

.@HillaryClinton on her collapse with pneumonia in 2016 vs Trump now: "It’s apples and oranges, completely. When I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, I was immediately put on antibiotics. I was told that I was not contagious" theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
more Clinton on Trump: "I don’t really have anything to contribute to the ongoing saga of why he behaves the way he does, and why he treats people the way he does, and why he won’t listen to people who actually know something. It’s pretty distressing on all fronts."

So now the question: if Trump doesn’t show to the virtual debate and Biden does, does the commission just give Biden all the airtime?
Between his performance at the first debate and this announcement, Trump is saying he gets to set the rules and terms of the debate. It’s obviously not a debate if only one shows, but the commission has to decide now if it goes w/the candidate who follows the rules or who breaks.
The *only* reason that the commission shifted to a virtual debate is because it’s Trump who is positive for COVID. And we already know that he skipped the pre-debate COVID test that his campaign had agreed he would take last week. So he is the one who created this situation.

Biden has been far less available to the press than any previous presidential nominee—local TV interviews but few others, press conferences about once a month, occasionally taking a few questions on the road. But it’s also true that no one in the Biden press corps has gotten sick
From the outset in March, Biden’s staff was very heavy on precautions. Masks, temperature checks, social distance for events. Now regular testing for traveling press. He’s been remote, but he also is apparently virus-free, as is his staff, reporters, other attendees of events.
Agree or disagree with Biden on policy or politics or anything else, there is a seriousness which he and his campaign have taken the pandemic which is a stark contrast to what has clearly made the White House and Air Force One hazardous working environments.

"As we've all seen," Biden says at a Amalgamated Transit Union town hall, pointing to the events of this week, "COVID 19 is still a threat to our health and our economic security."
asked at the town hall about the failures to provide sufficient PPE, Biden says,
"I don’t want to be attacking the president and the first lady now because they have contracted the virus. Jill and I pray for their quick and full recovery," then lays out his difference on plans.
Biden says he's told some governors not to come out publicly to endorse him because he worries that would have cost them COVID help from the federal government due to Trump's seeking vengeance
