It's comical but 4 out of these 6 men are FBI agents / informants. (see clip below). The majority of the men involved in the "foiled" FBI operation to grab Whitmer were feds.

When these kinds of sting operation were done to Muslims in America a lot of complains were heard from the media but now because it's "evil white supremacist right-wingers" that it's done to ...the same questions of whether this is ethical/legal doesn't enter the media narrative.
In fact, a while back there were discussion on MSNBC with Frank Figliuzzi, former assistant director for counterintelligence at the FBI, about why they don't do sting operations to rope in young White men. This is how they invent their "terrorists" narrative. Very ethical.
