Don't invite black, plus sized, diabled, LGBTQ, or any marginalized cosplayer to only speak on diversity/body positivity panels or segments. Invite us to speak on cosplay craftsmanship/making, makeup, marketing, etc. panels/segments too! We're super talented in those areas! (1/5)
Diveristy panels are great and they need to be at cons and events. It's crucial to have super marginalized cosplayers speak in such panels so that the audience can learn about what certain types of cosplayers go through and the panelists can give advice! (2/5)
But if you're only inviting us to speak on those panels or only for that segment, but pretend that we don't exist for the other aspects of cosplay (that we have skills & can educate too) then 1. that's not being a good ally & 2. You're diminishing our skills as cosplayers. (3/5)
I'm plus sized and I have no health problems. My cholesterol and blood pressure are good. I walk a lot and active. My friends always tell me to slow down when we walk. I eat healthy and drink water.
I know so many skinny people who eat nothing but junk food and soda and have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart problems and get out of breath when they walk up the stairs. Guess who these pseudo doctors are gonna belive has the health problems? 😒😒
My point is to not make assumptions about a person's health by their size! That's between that person and their doctor. There's so many of y'all who are low key fatphobic and claim to be concerned about our health. Stfu.
Some of y'all claim to be against racism, colorism, fatphobia, homophobia, (or any type of bullying) in the cosplay community, but don't actually speak up against it because y'all are scared of losing followers, con invites, and sponsorships and it really shows. (1/13)
Not saying that you have to do it every single minute and every single day, but some of you guys don't actually discuss it more. And I really noticed this pattern with the well known. The only time you guys finally say something is when an issue gets viral or when it (2/13)
happens to someone who's equally famous or your equally famous buddies. I don't see you guys actually defend more cosplayers who aren't well known or aren't conveniently attractive. And these are the cosplayers who really need the support the most! Before people accuse me (3/13)
