Good morning from Capitol Hill where I’m all set up for day two of Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing.
Graham starts out getting ahead of the Dems' focus on the ACA saying that Obamacare has been a disaster.

"I want a better deal."
Graham starts out asking Barrett to define what it means to be an originalist.

Barrett: “That meaning doesn’t change over time. And it's not up to me to update it or infuse my own policy views into it."
Barrett: judges can't just "walk in like a royal queen and impose their will on the world. You have to wait for cases in controversies,”
Graham running through a series of big issues with Barrett in the first round of questioning: abortion, same sex marriage, campaign finance, Brown v Board.
Both Tillis and Lee who tested positive for Covid-19 after the Rose Garden event are in the room today, wearing masks.

Tillis participated remotely yesterday.
Feinstein kicks off her questioning asking Barrett to introduce her family.
Feinstein starting off with abortion, detailing how as a student at Stanford she saw women seek unsafe abortions.
Asked about her views on Roe v Wade, Barrett repeatedly declined to give a straight answer.

“I can’t pre-commit or say yes I’m coming in with some agenda because I’m not."
Repeatedly asked by Feinstein about her views on the ACA, Barrett says she has never written on the issue of severability that is at the heart of the case coming before the justices next month.

“The canons of judicial conduct would prohibit me from expressing a view."

Good morning from Capitol Hill where I’ll be in the small pool of reporters inside the room this week for Amy Coney Barrett’s Supreme Court nomination hearing. Follow for live updates. Image
This'll be my first time working not from my kitchen table in almost six months. Feels great to be back in the room.
Note that senators, staff and media are all masked but there's very little social distancing happening.

Reporters are spaced out but senate folks are mingling freely.

NOW #Flynn's attorney said she spoke to President Donald Trump about the case "to inform him of the general status of the litigation."
Judge Sullivan asked if that conversation was in the last two weeks. Flynn's attorney Sidney Powell said time has a way of getting away from her but seemed to answer it was in recent weeks.
Powell tried to invoke ***executive privilege*** to circumvent Sullivan's questions, surprising the judge who said she does not work for the government.
