NEW: Dallas County Reports 629 New Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 1 Death
638 Total Cases Reported Today Including 9 Older Cases and 32 Probable Cases
Today we see a large increase in the number of new #COVID19 positive cases. Remember that we are looking for weekly trends & not one day spikes; however, we saw the release of CDC week 40 in the @DCHHS summary report which was yet another increase in the number of positive cases.
Our hospitalizations and ED visits are continuing to go up in the region and here in Dallas County and we are seeing a CDC week 40 climb in the number of children ages 5-17 who are contracting #COVID19 as well.
Overall our schools are doing a good job with infection prevention, & many of our families are making good choices, but it’s up to all of us to make a choice to wear our mask when around people outside our home, maintain 6 ft distance, wash our hands frequently, and avoid crowds.
We want the numbers to flatten and begin to go down with this pleasant weather and as we enter the holiday season. Unfortunately, we are currently going in the wrong direction but I know together we can turn it around and get to a better place for the fall.
Also, today is the first day of early vote. I want to reiterate the great amount of effort that has gone into making sure the voting experience is safe. You can go to DallasCountyVotes.org to find a color-coded map that shows which early voting sites have the shortest lines &..
... you can download a sample ballot at dallascountyvotes.org/voter-lookup to see the races that you’ll be voting on based on your address.

Let’s all wear our mask, maintain six-foot distance, and use good hand washing. Make your Halloween plans with your family and abstain from traditional trick-or-treating, parties, or trunk-or-treating.
NEW: Dallas County Reports 641 Additional Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 13 Deaths
The 641 new #COVID19 positive cases represents an increase from yesterday’s much lower total, but we are still seeing a steady decline in new daily cases from our record highs in early to mid-July.
We are also reporting 13 deaths, including a man in his 30’s with underlying health conditions. While we have seen some benefit of your commitment to wearing masks and maintaining social distancing, the virus remains a serious threat in our county.
NEW: Dallas County Reports 1,055 Additional Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases and 8 Deaths
The eight deaths we experienced today make it clear that by the time this week is over on Saturday that this will be one of our deadliest weeks so far.
I again urge @GovAbbott to enact the reasonable, business-friendly suggestions from the medical community that we sent him 3 weeks ago and have again urged him to enact since that time.
NEW: Dallas County Reports Largest Increase in COVID-19 Hospitalizations Thus Far and 1,214 Additional Positive 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Cases
.@DCHHS reports 1,214 cases and 6 deaths. Today we’ve seen our biggest jump ever in hospitalizations, both in the region and in the county. We saw 105 more hospitalizations than yesterday, a 16% increase in one day alone.
We also reached a new milestone in the number of new COVID -19 cases but it’s the hospitalizations number that we must watch closely. Think of hospitalizations as the sickest of the sick, the part of the iceberg above the water.
