CMD, TSGenco and Transco Sri Devulapalli Prabhakar Rao informed Chief Minister Sri K. Chandrashekar Rao that the Power utilities are on a high alert following the heavy rains and flash floods all over the State and are involved in the restoration measures.
In the backdrop of heavy floods and rains hitting the state, the CM spoke to CMD on Wednesday and inquired about the power situation. CM wanted the CMD to review the situation on a regular basis with the Transco, Genco and Discom officials and take the necessary measures.
"Electricity Department has also suffered huge losses at several places in the State. The electricity employees are working very hard despite the adverse weather conditions. Continue this spirit of work till everything is restored to normalcy,” the CM directed the CMD.
“Due to heavy rains and floods, there were several interruptions in the power supply in the state. Transformers in large numbers have been washed away. At several places, poles were uprooted or twisted and power transmission cables were snapped.
The intensity of rain and floods has not been reduced as yet. Electricity employees are unable to reach flooded areas. Shutting down power became necessary as rainwater flooded the cellars of apartments in Hyderabad and other cities.
The power supply was stopped as a precautionary measure to avert any accidents. The power supply is being restored based on the emerging situation. The restoration work is taking place in all the places where the employees & staff were able to reach,” the CMD explained to the CM.
