The people detained in VA detention centers have been demanding their release since March in response to the threat of a COVID outbreak.
Their organizing has repeatedly been met with retaliation, including being put into solitary, shot at, brutalized, & pepper sprayed. 3/6
Rather than focus on freeing the people detained in these abusive facilities, the State of Virginia has decided instead to target organizers and community members working to #FreeThemAll! 4/6
At the request of the Leesburg police, a Virginia court has issued a search warrant to access the Free Them All VA Facebook account in order to identify and intimidate organizers and discourage them from further organizing. 5/6
This form of state repression and surveillance follows a pattern of targeting of organizers and community members across the country, and parallels the deeper retaliation faced by detained protestors.
