Less than five hours before the final Federal Elections Commission fundraising deadline before Nov 3—and Wisconsin is still 2020’s absolute must-win state. Trump’s here Saturday.
Thanks in no small part to massive organizing, Wisconsinites have turned in 756,207 absentee ballots so far—a bigger % of the ‘16 vote than any state but VA, which is already doing in-person early voting.
We have amazing candidates for the legislature all over Wisconsin. And they’re running against a GOP that has torpedoed our state’s COVID response, resulting in a wave of illness and death.
The C in WISCO: Cancel Trump’s second inaugural. Which means, to be clear, ensuring that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win Wisconsin’s electoral college votes, and go to the White House.
We’ve been building for this moment for three and a half years. Now we’re in the final stretch. And Trump is terrified by the tidal wave of people power heading his way.
And then there’s the O in WISCO: Organize for the long term.
We’re building, through our state party, in a way that will last long after this election. Because change doesn’t happen overnight.
Be a part of it. Volunteer. Donate.
And then roll up your sleeves and commit to staying involved, no matter what happens on November 3.
Your country needs you now.
3 hours & 24 minutes until the final Federal Election Commission deadline before Nov 3.
NEW AD: Governor Tony Evers has worked tirelessly to beat the pandemic—& Wisconsin Republicans have opposed him at every turn. Now, they’re aiming for supermajorities in the state legislature instead of showing up to help Wisconsinites. RT this & read on:
The GOP legislature used a lame-duck legislative session after Evers was elected to give itself powers he was elected to wield. Then they scored a court ruling that gave them control of health emergency powers… and didn’t pass a single one.
Most recently, a judge formerly active in Republican politics overturned a health order by @GovEvers to limit capacity at indoor bars and restaurants. Meanwhile, coronavirus has spiraled out of control in our state. We’re setting up field hospitals here.
HELP: We’re nearing the final weekend of phone banking before Wisconsin’s online voter registration deadline on Oct 14! We need your help letting voters know about this date. Sign up for a shift here and RT to share this thread: mobilize.us/wi2020victory/…
Wisconsin has same-day voter registration, and normally, tons of Wisconsinites register at their polling location. But due to the GOP’s sabotage of COVID prevention, we have a massive outbreak that could keep people away. So we need to let folks know—& phones is how we do it.
We’re in court, trying to extend this deadline, but we’ve seen that the GOP will do anything to block extensions like these, so treat the Oct 14 deadline as very real. Let’s make sure voters know about it. jsonline.com/story/news/pol…
NEWS: The GOP is pouring $2 million in dark money to defeat Ron Kind in Wisconsin’s swingiest Congressional district. They know Trump will lose Wisconsin if @KindforCongress wins big. So let’s make sure that Kind soars to victory: secure.actblue.com/donate/dpw-kin…
Why is the GOP pouring so much money into Wisconsin’s 3rd District, a gerrymandered masterpiece that covers western and central Wisconsin? Simple: Because whoever wins here wins Wisconsin. politico.com/news/2020/09/2…
The GOP is freaking out because the Supreme Court vacancy has driven home for everyone that healthcare is on the ballot. Dems won every 2018 statewide election on the promise to protect people with pre-existing conditions. The 2020 stakes: even higher.
What we see with McConnell, Trump, and the whole GOP right now is a fundamental rot that threatens our democracy. And to beat it, we not only have to defeat individual candidates—we have to build a *party* capable of winning. Chip in—to win now AND in 2022:wisdems.org/donate
For all the decades of my life, the right has focused more systematically on investing in infrastructure, not just individual candidate campaigns. And that has paid off for them, and hurt the rest of us. Our job is to build institutions that make *all* our campaigns stronger.
Reince Priebus was the chair of the Republican Party of Wisconsin and helped Scott Walker flip the Badger State from a blue trifecta to a red trifecta in 2010—and then gerrymander maps so horribly that a blue trifecta is out of reach even if we win statewide in a landslide.
NEW: Ron Johnson said Supreme Court confirmations should wait until after elections. He should keep his word. Sign the @WisDems petition—and we'll make sure he sees it. A lot. wisdems.org/ron-johnson/
Ron Johnson, aka @TheWorstSenator, has been crystal clear about his view that waiting until after an election to nominate and confirm Supreme Court justices. Let's hold him to his word. Sign here and share this petition: wisdems.org/ron-johnson
After you sign the petition to @TheWorstSenator demanding that he keep his word and wait on considering any Supreme Court nomination, call some Wisconsin voters and help them return their absentee ballots. Sign up, we'll train you, and you'll help us win.
THREAD: Trump is speaking right now in Wisconsin, apparently from a different universe where he's not trying to rip away millions of Americans' health care during a pandemic. (In this one, he is.) But more importantly, absentee ballots were mailed today. It's begun. 1/
Trump keeps coming back to Wisconsin because he's losing here—and if he loses Wisconsin, his presidency ends. The electoral college math is stark. He's panicked about it. So he's holding in-person rallies. But Wisconsinites see right through him.
Roughly a million Wisconsinites have already requested absentee ballots for the November election. That's about a third of the total turnout from recent presidential elections. Those ballots are now in the mail. Want one? Go to iwillvote.com and sign up.
