π§ͺ Cumulative test positivity is at 11.73%; seven-day avg daily test positivity is 17.18%, still generally high.
π₯ COVID-19 hospitalizations are at 486, -33 from the previous day, dropping below 500 again.
Cases remain generally high statewide. The average number of new cases reported each day over the last seven days was 578 yesterday β about where we were on Aug. 24 (580).
For reference, Nevada's most recent low (317 average new cases reported each day) was on Sept. 21 β exactly two weeks out from Labor Day. Bars reopened in Washoe on Sept. 16 and Clark on Sept. 20.
Some other general notes on the state's dashboard update. When looking at this graph, you have to ignore that dipping line at the end. You'll notice the state has those lines in light grey, and if you hover it says "incomplete."
This graph is helpful because it allocates the cases back to their specimen collection date β which is good in the long run! It gets rid of bunching in the data caused by a bunch of test results getting reported back one day.
However, there's a lag. It takes results time to come back. That's why you see that dip at the end β because some/many of those samples probably haven't come back positive or negative yet. So, more helpful in the long run than day-by-day.
The state is also now reporting testing encounters, which is actually very helpful. This de-duplicates instances in which a rapid/PCR test are taken on the same day.
This methodology has also been applied to the test positivity graph β which again is super helpful and sort of the gold standard because it removes the duplications, which has always been the issue with the tests/tests method.
Also β drum roll β something we've been waiting for a long time β the counties at elevated risk of the spread of COVID-19 tracker, now updated daily. As of Monday, only Washoe and Lyon were flagged as at elevated risk. You can see Clark and Lincoln have since joined them.
Anyways, the tl;dr is we got a lot more new info with this update! I'll be looking it over in the coming days and incorporating some of it into our data page. So look out for that! thenevadaindependent.com/coronavirus-daβ¦
As an addendum, there were two different numbers for the total people tested listed today on the dashboard β 749,852 and 745,344. The latter is correct, and actually results in a decreased number of the total people tested from yesterday.
The decreased number is the result of the state undergoing "significant" data cleanup as part of the dashboard transition process and identifying duplicate records, per the state. (As a result, you won't see a test positivity number for today on our dashboard.)

International Church of Las Vegas pastors are again prophesying over President Trump at this church service this morning in Las Vegas. Pastor Denise Goulet says, "At 4:30, the Lord said to me, I am going to give your president a second win."
ICLV pastors, continuing to prophesy over Trump, tell him that "everyone that's connected to you is going to go into a winning era." They're now praying for him.
ICLV pastors did the same thing in October 2016. It's one of their most popular videos on YouTube:
Looks like President Trump will be attending church tomorrow morning at the International Church of Las Vegas (he also visited the church in Oct. 2016) before flying to a fundraiser in Newport Beach and then back to Nevada for a rally in Carson City in the evening.
For those who don't remember, pastors of this church prophesied over Trump at that Oct. 2016 service.
Some convo going on in the comments of this ICLV live stream that Google Translate tells me is Bengali...?
π§ͺ Cumulative test positivity is at 11.86%; seven-day avg daily test positivity is 20.46%, still generally high.
π₯ COVID-19 hospitalizations are at 469, -17 from the previous day, still below 500.
Some notes on counties at-risk of elevated spread of COVID-19. As of today, Clark, Lincoln and Lyon counties are on the list. Washoe has dropped off with its test positivity rate dipping to 8.0%. (Remember β Monday is the official day for measuring this for mitigation purposes.)
Gov. Steve Sisolak, on CNN right now, says he's been on weekly calls with the White House COVID task force "literally begging" for PPE and test kits. He says an organized national response "would've saved thousands and thousands of lives."
Sisolak said Trump cared about himself being protected last night but not about the several thousand people who showed up to his rally: "He knows what the rules are ... He chose to show callous disregard in a reckless, selfish, irresponsible way."
Sisolak says it is "absurd" that President Trump didn't think the 50-person limit on gatherings applied to him: "I think he just doesn't much care."
Caleb Cage, Nevada's COVID-19 response director, said he has seen reports on social media that someone who was COVID positive attended one of the Trump rallies this weekend, but says that it has not been confirmed: "This is why we have directives in place."
Julia Peek, deputy administrator for the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, notes that anyone who attends an event with a large number of people without masks β even a backyard barbecue β was likely exposed to COVID-19. She recommends testing 5-7 days after exposure.
Cage says the state is expecting to see an increase in cases "over the next few weeks." He said the number of people on the streets over the Labor Day weekend was "concerning." He also mentioned this weekends rallies which were held "in defiance" of statewide directives.
President Donald Trump is kicking things off here at his indoor rally at Xtreme Manufacturing in Henderson. He's starting the same way he did last night: "51 days from now we're going to win Nevada, and we're going to win four more years in the White House."
Trump again mentions Las Vegas Metro Police Officer Shay Mikalonis, who was shot + paralyzed at the conclusion of a protest in June. Unlike last night, he did not talk about the suspect or refer to him as a "left person." (The suspect said he was just trying to scare protesters.)
We're now about 10 minutes into Trump's speech and he has yet to go after Gov. Sisolak. Last night, he kicked things off right away by talking about Sisolak.
