/ Forgetting divisive political stance- seeing deplatforming, censorship & banning across centralized traditional social media, it's easy to remember why I work hard to support web 3.0 social solutions like Hive & why blockchain matters above & beyond hard, provable currency.
/ There are PLENTY of valid reasons to ban, block, etc- but that control should be granular. As users, we should be pursuing solutions where our connections/purchases/content are available to us, always. This doesn't mean freedom of speech suddenly equals freedom of consequence!
/ Should a front end decide to bury you (which is well within their rights) you should be able to host a node, access the ledger & take back your ability to maintain a connection with community & content, as a producer or consumer. This goes far beyond politics & criminality~
/ Take algorithmic autobans & demonetization- Twitter locking accounts on a whim who share wrongthink, YouTube purges, or Facebook's take-backsies on privacy issues & insta-permabanning new #Oculus#VR accounts at random, nuking years of history (including purchases & friends)
/ You're still beholden to how you act- personal responsibility exists. Your choices will still be subject to terms of the interfaces/services you choose. But at the base layer, you have the tools to own your information & potentially self-distribute or maintain connections.
/ Big crazy rant, but we're in a big crazy new world where these types of social solutions fill an incredibly important need when it comes to your self sovereignty... If the medium is the message, how do you think it evolves from here? What do *you* need to build a better world?
