Most of us know Goa for its mesmerizing beaches or cathedrals. But very few of us know about it's rich Hindu heritage including temples and forts. This thread is a small effort to create awareness about that. I was lucky to visit few of them and wish to explore more in future.
1. First one is Cabo de Rama fort. It is believed that Lord Ram visited this place with Mata Sita and Lakshmana during his 14 years of Exile. Local Soola rulers built a fort at this place which was later occupied by Portuguese and they built a Cathedral inside it.
2. Mangueshi Temple is one of the largest and most frequently visited temples in Goa. The main temple is dedicated to Bhagvan Manguesh, an incarnation of lord Shiva.
3. Mahadev Temple - This Temple is the oldest one in Goa and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Surrounded by lush green forests, it was built by Yadava King Ramachandra.
4. Ramnathi Temple - The Temple of Ramnathi is located in Bandivade in Goa. It is believed that the idol of Shri Ramnath was installed 3,000 years back by Lord ram and the deity here holds the power of lord Rama as well as lord Vishnu.
My request is when next time you visit Goa, Please do explore these beautiful gems of our heritage along with the serene beaches of Goa. More about other temples of Goa in this website. nativeplanet.com/travel-guide/t… @JyotiKarma7 @VertigoWarrior @DeshBhaktaYoda
Someone just suggested me to look for Pandava’s caves of Goa. I looked for them and here I am adding the link about that information. I would definitely like to visit there next time. mapsofindia.com/my-india/trave…
