Hinduism is the religion of the future.
It is the best choice for a person who wants to be a rational, educated, scientifically-oriented person.

Hinduism is going to be relevant until humans would become fully aware of the way nature works, but if risks of "materialism" are not properly addressed then doomsday is not far.
In Hinduism, "the right thing to do" aka. Dharma is given the utmost importance.
You have four choices to spend your life in Hinduism, they are "Jnana Yoga", "Karma Yoga", "Raja Yoga" and "Bhakti Yoga".
Brief descriptions of these paths:
1. Jnana Yoga:
This diagram below shows the framework of how to gain knowledge and shed ignorance. Image
2. Karma Yoga:
Acting physically like applying and building things based on "Jnana", comes under Karma Yoga.
3. Raja Yoga:
All the Yoga asanas, popularly known as just "Yoga" come under Raja Yoga.
4. Bhakti Yoga:
The purpose of Bhakti Yoga is associated with all the stuff that humans are not aware of, the purpose of it is to sustain human civilization.
My preferred way to do Bhakti Yoga is by choosing to believe in "Advaita", summarized below.

PS. You are free to choose any way of "Bhakti", as long as your way promotes the sustainability of human civilization.
Help in deciding the right thing to do can be derived from the history of human civilization, especially the ancient 'Iti-ha-aasa'.
"Those who can not remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
For those who think Iti-ha-aasa is just mythology,
Here is the definition, it is a telling of Purvavruttam (events in the past), Kathayuktam (in a story format) to promote the Purushartha which is Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.
A good resource that gives an account of the past, which could help us to decide "the right thing to do" (aka. "Dharma") is "Ramayana".
Notes from Valmiki's written texts are analyzed and summarized in this video series.
