"When the next history of the CDC is written 2020 will emerge as perhaps the darkest chapter.. rivaled only by.. the infamous Tuskegee experiment,in which federal doctors withheld medicine from poor Black men w/ syphilis then tracked their descent into blindness insanity & death"
"Once seen as an apolitical bulwark, the CDC endured meddling on multiple fronts by officials with little or no public health experience, from Trump’s daughter Ivanka to Stephen Miller, the architect of the president’s immigration crackdown."

Self-imposed deadline arrives with no sign of a stimulus deal
Congress is gone. McConnell has said the Senate isn't technically in recess.. but most members have returned home
Projections for an actual deal are no better than they were 10 days ago
Multiple aides involved in the talks have told CNN over the last few days that they are now eying the government funding deadline as perhaps the only real remaining trigger for action if things continue to flounder.
That deadline is September 31.
That is more than two months after the expiration of the enhanced unemployment benefits.

Postmaster General DeJoy arrives on CapHill, wearing a blue USPS mask, to meet w/ Pelosi, Schumer, Sec. Mnuchin & Meadows, on mail delays & relief funding
Schumer has said he previously called DeJoy 3x over concerns w/ mail delays in NY & ahead of the Pres election
Schumer earlier today said: “The new postmaster general—a big donor to Pres Trump, which many believe is his main qualification as to being chosen—enacted new guidelines at the Post Office that experts say will cause severe delays in mail delivery”
...”There is lack of funding and there are new regulations that get in the way to the timely delivery of mail. We must resolve those in a way that allows mail to be delivered on time for the election and for the necessities that people need,” Schumer added
