Trump predicts wins in MI and MN, and that "having people like [Rep. Ilhan] Omar really helps."

Then exaggeratedly mispronounces her name: "Eel-an Omar...she does not love our country too much."
Then he rails at @GovWhitmer: "Get your governor to open up your state and get your schools open!"

A loud "Lock her up!" chant erupts.

Trump: "Lock em all up!"

This comes after 14 people were arrested for plotting to kidnap the governor.
Trump now really leaning into culture war stuff, claiming Dem opposition to ACB, "cancel culture" around, Confederate statues, teaching American history, etc.

"They basically want to take out our heritage."
Oh, here's a good one!

Trump says Biden "never had the kind of control that you have to have to be president."
And moments later Trump claims Democrats want to blow up Mt. Rushmore (they don't, actually).
The second "Lock her up!" chant breaks out after Trump invokes Hillary Clinton.

He loves it:

"Are we having a good time?!"
Trump: "I saved the suburbs! Women! Suburban women, you're supposed to love Trump!"
Trump just dropped a "Barack Hussein Obama" ref, so that's how this is going.

Nearing the hour mark, nary a mention of the pandemic, the economy or healthcare.
Trump blasts Whitmer again, prompting a second "Lock her up!" chant...

When it quiets down, he says: "They said she was threatened. And she blamed me! And our people were the ones who worked with her people, so let's see what happens...

"Our FBI has to start looking at Antifa."
We have just arrived at our second racist riff on "Eel-han Omar," which is a carbon copy of the first, claiming she "hates our country...

"We're going to win Minnesota because of her."
Trump says tech companies "are putting themselves in danger. Section 230."

Says they're refusing to disseminate news reports about Biden.

"He's a criminal," Trump claims.
Trump, who's called Biden "shot" several times already, just stumbled over the word "automotive" and tried to play it off as intentional.
Trump goes on about Hunter Biden, blasts the media for not amplifying the questionable NY Post reports. And then tries to stick the landing:

"The Biden family is a criminal enterprise! And I totally mean it."
That's three Ilhan Omar references from Trump and we're not yet done.

We've gone from how she's going to help him win MN to: "Minnesota, you better vote for me!"
Trump rally, in sum:

Speaking time: 100-ish min (lost track)

Ilhan Omar refs: 3

"Lock [Whitmer] up!" chants: 2
"12 more years!" chant: 1

Refs to COVID-19 caseload spiking: 0

Rush Limbaugh begins this "radio rally" by playing Trump's walk-up music and then a tape of crowd noise of people chanting "we love you."
Rush to Trump: "You are one of the strongest, the most unwavering, the most determined, most loyal people I have ever met...it's just a breathtaking thing.

"I want people to get to know the Donald Trump I know."
Trump starts by saying he "jumped" on the invite to do this rally because Rush's audience is so large.

Then he falsely claims on COVID-19:

"We have a cure. More than just a therapeutic. We have a cure."

Blames "fake news" for mischaracterizing everything.

WEST DES MOINES — “He’s fine until he talks,” said Janet Khomgmaly, 49, a nurse who voted for Trump in 2016.

“I was expecting to see clarity. And I’m just very disappointed by the behavior, the lack of really poignant speaking to the issues,” said Don Hensley, 50, who develops food products. He voted for Trump in 2016 but is uncertain now if he will even vote.
Trump called the coronavirus “a hoax,” said Kathy Hoover, a 51-year-old retired teacher who supports Biden. “...he didn’t tell what actually was going on because he was afraid of a panic. He didn’t give the American people enough credit to handle whatever panic came along.”

Trump's reliance on patronage, and the conditioning of government funds on political benefit, is actually one of the clearest through-lines of his presidency.

Today, it's $13 mil for Puerto Rico, which he'd long denied more aid, to try and win Florida in 46 days:
But this is how he ran Trump Corp. and how he's approached the presidency, even from the transition period when he got IN to cough up $7m in tax breaks to save 1,000 jobs at Carrier.

The pattern was clear in 2017, when the FoxConn plant went to WI..

And it explains so much of what's happened since: the quid pro quo with Ukraine that sparked impeachment, the pandemic response, the indifference to the fires out west.

We've long known this, but just it's still striking just how much of this is all innate of one thing.

The race is basically tied in Florida, so.
And, just in case it wasn't clear this Puerto Rico aid was all about the election in Florida, Trump makes it clear:

"Biden's devastated the island of Puerto Rico."

Trump contradicts CDC Director Redfield, who told Congress today vaccine wouldn’t be distributed to broader public until mid-2021:

“I think he made a mistake when he said that. It’s just incorrect information.”
Asked to give the public his timeline for a vaccine to be distributed: “Very soon.”
Trump now makes clear he *also disagrees with Redfield’s statement that a mask is more effective than a vaccine.

“It’s not more effective,” Trump says. “I think there’s a lot of problems with masks. Vaccines are much more effective.”

.@jonkarl, one of the "all-stars" Trump recognized at the outset today: "Why did you lie to the American people?"

Trump: "What a terrible question. I didn't lie..."

Karl: "You went out and told the American public this is just like the flu!"
@jonkarl Trump says his downplaying in March was "very simple...I want to show a level of confidence. I want to show strength as a leader. And I want to show that our country is going to be fine one way or the other..

"There was no lie here. We're leading."
@jonkarl Trump, now with the death toll nearing 200K, schools virtual and football fan-free:

"We’re rounding the final turn...we have done a phenomenal job."
