What could possibly be the downside of offending this peace loving minority in the US who are model citizens? What could be the ‘political backlash’ of trampling their emotions? None. Few angry tweets, maybe a couple of opeds, and maybe if it gets bad a peaceful protest somewhere
Your campaign has calculated correctly.Hindu minority in the US does not count for much electorally and why should you care about what they think outside of the US.These people who wake up every morning praying their intellect be illuminated (Gayatri Mantra) are hardly a threat
But you @KamalaHarris are running for a public office. If you think Ma Durga’s vanquishing evil and rescuing goodness in humankind is same as defeating political rival in an electoral contest, then you maybe a smart meme pusher but you certainly are a poor leader.
You may or may not choose to apologize to Hindus for that insensitive meme. There will be no repercussions, but do remember elections come and go, leaders are judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin.
