Deaths from the leading causes were above the five-year average in private homes and care homes.

Meanwhile deaths from these causes in hospitals and hospices were lower ow.ly/Bj7C50BVZ2U
The leading cause of death for males was Ischaemic Heart Disease, and in private homes the number was 25.9% above the five-year average in England.

There were 4,393 deaths related to drug poisoning registered in England and Wales in 2019.

When adjusting for age, the mortality rate was 76.7 deaths per million people, similar to the rate in 2018 (76.3)
