A nice illustration of how PACs are a legal form of grift comes this month from Brianna Wu's RebellionPAC, a "Clean PAC fighting for progressive, working class values across the country." Like everyone else, RebellionPAC cleaned up in Q3, bringing in over $150K in donations
In that period, the PAC spent $94,140, but only $11,200 of this went to candidates. The rest was spent on media production, bank and legal fees ($9,165), email lists ($5,125), entertainment ($1,111) and $17,806 that Wu paid herself out of PAC funds for "strategic consulting"
Scratch any progressive PAC and this is the pattern you'll find. They are limited by law in what they can give to candidates, but limited only by a sense of decorum and shame in what they can pay themselves. Please give directly to campaigns! (source: docquery.fec.gov/pdf/093/202010…)
Share any progressive PAC you've given to in the thread and I can try to help you figure out how the money is being spent. My frustration stems from having to compete against these people to get small-dollar donations into the hands of actual candidates who need to win

Facebook's October FEC filing is up. Together with Google, Facebook controls a duopoly on online political advertising in America. But they also put a thumb on the scale—here's their $2,500 donation to anti-abortion hardliner Jim Risch and $3,500 to Republican senator Joni Ernst Image
I wonder how Theresa Greenfield, who is spending a metric fuckton on Facebook ads, feels about her ad platform making direct political contributions to her opponent Image
Here's Facebook's 9/29 payment of $2,500 to the "Rely On Your Beliefs Fund", Roy Blunt's leadership PAC, a way for the company to offer indirect support to Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell ImageImageImage

I'll livetweet today's Apple event in this thread for old time's sake, and if you enjoy it, please take a minute to give some scratch to the Great Slate! These rural Democrats didn't take away your headphone jack—they want more headphone jacks for all. secure.actblue.com/donate/great_s…

Same paid Trump result sits on top of Google searches for "vote atlanta/marietta/savannah", "where can I vote georgia", "early voting locations georgia", and lots of similar combinations. Boy are Google employees going to be outraged tomorrow!
This morning the paid Trump ads sitting at the top of "where to vote" queries on Google seem to have moved to Florida. Where else are people spotting them?

I continue to be baffled by these stories about how much pressure Biden faces from the left. The left shot its wad with Bernie, and progressive voters are concentrated in states whose November vote is preordained. What are they going to do to increase pressure, tweet in ALL CAPS?
The progressive left created a real conundrum for itself as a pressure group with its strategic decision to contest other Democrats rather than learning how to defeat Republicans.
Biden has effectively isolated himself from all political pressure to move left by staying off Twitter, and I love it.

Everyone is re-iterating how honored they are to be treating the President, while the President has asked to pass along how honored he is to be treated by this team. The virus is undoubtedly even more honored to be killing such an illustrious figure.
The medical team says Trump suffered a second episode of low blood oxygen yesterday morning, so pretty much at the time they were outside telling us how great he was doing.
Probably should leave one of the doctors inside tomorrow during the health briefing
