Thread: @AlOtroLado_Org represents the 25 families mentioned in this article who are putting their faith in our justice system to 'allow them' to return to the children they have not held in yrs. 1/

2/ Yes. As yet, their only hope for return, under the Ms L Settlement Agreement, is to count on the benevolence of the same govt that ripped their children from them. Unlike families who were here in U.S. custody at the time, there is NO right of return for..
3/ parents who were separated (though I prefer to say 'disappeared') & then deported. If you are outraged by this, use your voice to make it change. Remember, these families fled death threats in their home countries...
4/ When they came here seeking safety, we ripped their child from them, put the parent in prison, then deported their mother/father back to the very harm they fled. Most have not been able...
to return to their villages. They are in hiding from their persecutors. Unable to go out, unable to work. We recently had to find an org to rescue & resettle a father in Honduras who was found by his persecutors & severely beaten. Meanwhile, there is the...
ever present COVID looming over them. What if they die & never see their child again? What if their child gets sick here in the U.S.? It was NOT a choice to leave their child here. Most had no idea what happened to their child...
They were unable to connect until after they were deported & could finally make a call. Their children think they abandoned them. Imagine trying to explain to a 6 yr what our govt did? The children in the U.S. are....
suffering irreparable harm. Some have bounced between sponsors, having no stability. Reuniting in home country means returning to the prospect of death.....
@P4HR has determined that fam separation is torture. We continue to TORTURE these children & parents. DO NOT LET THESE FAMILIES BE FORGOTTEN. #BringThemBack End.
One more thing: It's not our govt, w/its vast resources, that is tasked w/finding the parents THEY deported. It's NGOs like @JusticeInMotion who do the work thru their own funding. We don't even make the govt foot the bill.

This fact does not get enough attn in the talk on family separation a/k/a govt kidnapping. The excuse given for separation is that parent illegally entered but - as you've heard time & time again - seeking asylum is a LEGAL form of entry.....1/
Every day I read through FOIAs & declarations from separated & deported parents that @AlOtroLado_Org is working to return & the evidence is clear that these parents entered either through a port of entry - a form of entry #KirstjenNielsen said would not....
be prosecuted yet they DID prosecute - or at the border but immediately expressed a fear of return. LAWFUL ENTRY. Yet their child was ripped from them, they were put in prison & then given time served (around 15 days). ....
