The Dialogue on the Toobin situation is really something.
I think one of two things is likely true:

1. The sexual predilections of journalists are VERY weird or

2. The desire among journalists to protect the social standing of those whose sexual predilections are VERY weird is VERY high
In very related news I am now pro-censorship
Some libertarian is going to hit me with the slippery slope argument here and so let me remind you all that not all slopes are slippery.
Also, I remain darkly fascinated at the ability of the left-wing commentary class to rationalize truly any bad or immoral behavior within 24 hours.

🚨Hypocrisy Warning🚨

New evidence of Biden family corruption has led media outlets to suddenly worry about pushing unverified allegations as facts.

Anyone who remembers the Steele dossier knows that, for these Hypocrisy Hall of Famers, such concerns only apply to one side.
@NPR

Leading the pack is @NPR. Not only have they refused to cover the Joe & Hunter Biden email scandal, they put out an editors note saying they “don’t want to waste...time on stories that are just pure distraction.”

Compare that to the clickbait headline for Steele. Amazing. ImageImage
@CNN

Not to be outdone, @CNN’s @brianstelter called the Post’s reporting unverified and “manufactured.”

This is pretty rich from an outlet that had disgraced lawyer Bruce Ohr on to push salacious and unverified allegations from the Steele dossier. ImageImage

One day I pray that I will have the same conviction about anything as Matt Walsh has for what “grown adults” should vs. shouldn’t do.
I mean.
Truly.

🧵THREAD🧵

Another Russian-related lie was exposed today, this time the allegation that @nypost’s Biden coverage was “Russian disinformation,” something that every corner of the media & Democratic Party assured us was the case.

Don’t believe me? Well, take a look👇
Getting us started is @CNN, who had chief Russian conspiracist James Clapper on the program to talk about how the Post story was “classic textbook Soviet Russian tradecraft” (his words) and then did an “anatomy” of the “dubious” story.
But right behind them was @nytimes, who ran a similarly incredulous story, and whose chief political reporter @maggieNYT doubled down on the Russian disinformation angle.

Oh wow, @NBCNews should take this up with...NBC News as of 11/10/2018
And NBC should take it up with @NBCNews on 11/12/2018
And @NBCNews should mention that to NBC News on 11/21/2018

A few thoughts:

1) I don’t get why these personal moments are newsworthy
2) they’re heartbreaking, and the type of heartbreak that anyone who has had a loved one battle addiction knows
3) this does more to humanize Joe Biden than any campaign ad.
nypost.com/2020/10/16/tex…
More succinctly: dunking on a man for comforting his addict son is fucked, and if your politics leads you to do it, that’s fucked, too.
We are in the midst of the greatest addiction and overdose crisis this country has ever seen.

And we’re dedicating time and attention to dunk on a man struggling with addiction and a father who cares for him?

Are you fucking kidding me?

Quick thread.

It’s become fashionable to criticize the US response to coronavirus. Perhaps that’s warranted. But cases are spiking across Europe and it’s gone unremarked across much of the media.

I ran the numbers. It’s grim, particularly compared to new US cases.
France

New cases: 29,641
Population: 67 million

Cases adjusted for US pop: 145,108
Actual US cases: 55,291

There’s still apples to oranges a bit, here, but for context, that would be about double the highest single-day case total in the US so far.
United Kingdom

It isn’t just France, either. This is all over Europe.

New cases: 17,502
Population: 67 million

Cases adjusted for US pop: 85,681
Actual US cases: 55,291
