Watching the “60 Minutes” video and the first LOL moment is Trump claiming that Democrats were on the verge of working with him on Big Things just before the pandemic hit. Even Trump has forgotten his impeachment!
It’s also fascinating to see what triggers Trump. So far the thing that has him the most agitated was Stahl’s observation that his 2020 rallies are smaller than his 2016 rallies.
During the entire section on health care Trump gives off strong “MONORAIL!” vibes. There’s also the weird “drinking a glass of water with two hands” thing.
Ah, you can see the exact moment when Trump starts thinking about releasing the raw footage. It’s when Stahl explains that “60 Minutes” can’t air his bullshit unverified claims.
The only surprising moment in the entire interview is Trump shrugging off the prospect of being investigated by a future Biden administration. He seemed completely unruffled by that possibility.

I’ve seen a lot of speculation on this here website that the SCOTUS vacancy benefits Trump to some degree. I’d hypothesize that this premise is spectacularly wrong. The GOP base was already mobilized about the courts. Ginsburg’s passing mobilizes Dems to a much greater degree.

It’s been a long day but I’ll close it out by making a few points about this thread. It contains one valuable insight and two misnomers (1/7).
The valuable insight is that people who follow politics often have no idea what will register with people who barely follow politics. It’s absolutely true and a it’s a nearly impossible bias for a politics junkie or political scientist to shed (2/7).
That said, there are two big misnomers. First, just because folks in Kenosha don’t care about the scandal du jour doesn’t mean that the scandal doesn’t matter. Trump’s appalling behavior matters plenty, both intrinsically and as a clue to what he’ll do in the future (3/7).

I’ve only been a polling inspector for a few hours but my God the things I’ve seen... (1/5)
Everyone — EVERYONE — coming into my polling location is wearing a mask. They are all UNRELENTINGLY polite and APPRECIATIVE of poll workers. (2/5)
The wardens are being scrupulous in checking the late mail-in ballots against the voting rolls. Insane! (3/5)
