Between 2008 and 2016, Republicans BLOCKED the appointment of *105* (you read that right) federal judgeships nominated by Obama including a Supreme Court pick which the Constitution GUARANTEED and Republicans DENIED.

MEDIA: "But DEMOCRATS want to pack the court."
It was always the Republican plan to undo very popular laws through the corruption of US courts:

75% of Americans support safe, legal abortion.

79% support protections for pre-existing conditions.

Since Republicans can't legislate these away, they're trying to cheat instead.
The constitution DOES NOT STIPULATE how many justices serve on the Supreme Court but it clearly gave power to Obama to appoint Garland.

So, if Republicans are going to try to change laws by VIOLATING the constitution, the least Democrats can do is protect laws by ENFORCING it.
Adding 2-4 justices to the court is perfectly constitutional.

BLOCKING PRESIDENTIAL APPOINTMENTS IS NOT.

Let's just be clear: Republicans PACKED the court.

Democrats must PROTECT the court's constitutionally-mandated purpose by expanding it.

The LA Times called our record, HOLLYWOOD PARK, by the Airborne Toxic Event:

"Jesus of Suburbia meets Darkness at the Edge of town."

And the Telegraph said it was "The National channeling Bruce Springsteen."

I wrote it when my dad died and honestly I'm so proud of this record.
My father left prison at 27 and went to a drug rehab community to deal with a heroin addiction. It turned into a cult, where I was born. I lived in an orphanage there. When we escaped, I finally got to know him. He was my best friend.

When he died I wrote HOLLYWOOD PARK for him.
"The references to heroin, religion and parole act as an impressionistic reflection of a tumultuous life, building on the grandiosity that made their single 'Sometime Around Midnight' so revelatory. It's an hour of sheer roar-along brilliance. Stupendous." loudersound.com/reviews/the-ai…

NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS IT, it's called the "coronavirus" not the "China-virus."

NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS IT, it's a non-partisan issue, not a "hoax invented by Democrats."

NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS IT, we must follow the advice of experts?

200,000 Americans are dead.
NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS IT, it's a serious condition worthy of the best health care in the world, not "a mild flu."

NOW THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS IT, we are "one" America, not an America in which the covid mortality rate for Black people is THREE TIMES that of white people.
Honestly, I'm glad the Republican Party has finally decided to take this seriously, my only question is:

Where the fuck have you been?

Because a lot of us have been locked indoors, no school for kids, all while you have been holding superspreader events and calling this a HOAX.

This is Louis DeJoy. He is the huge Trump DONOR who Trump made the Postmaster General of the United States. He is trying to DESTROY the US Postal Service to help Trump steal an election.

We need to make him famous.
Louis DeJoy gave $2,000,000 to the Republican Party under Trump who rewarded him by making him the head of the Postal Service DESPITE NO EXPERIENCE AT THE POST OFFICE.

The first thing he did was CUT SERVICES & create a MASSIVE BACKLOG of mail delivery.
washingtonpost.com/politics/posta…
“The cardinal rule is, ‘don’t delay the mail,’ and we’re in a 180-degree switch where we’re delaying mail every day,” adding that if the system is not fixed before election season, “it’s going to be a catastrophe.”

THIS IS ON PURPOSE.

For those of you who grew up poor, what is your trashy gourmet special?

Mine is ramen noodles with tomato sauce, pepper, butter and a quarter pound of sliced government cheese.

I still swear by that shit.
My wife says her (Mexican) trashy gourmet dish was a fried bologna taco which is exactly what it sounds like.
For those asking, “What is government cheese?”

It was basically a 5 pound block of orange rubber the government gave to people on food stamps because they the army refused to eat it.

(Good in noodles, tho.) Image

“Several years ago, Jollett began writing Hollywood Park, the gripping and brutally honest memoir of his life. Published in the middle of the pandemic, it has gone on to become one of the summer’s most celebrated books and a New York Times best seller.”

lamag.com/culturefiles/m…
“Mikel Jollett’s searching Hollywood Park charts the musician’s odyssey from early childhood in Synanon, a California cult, to backwoods poverty to Stanford. A Generation X This Boy’s Life. Hollywood Park is a triumph.”

oprahmag.com/entertainment/…
“Mikel Jollett, front man for The Airborne Toxic Event, has written a memoir that is dangerous, immediate and lyrical from the jump. It can sound airy to say, ‘Music saved my life.’ In Mr. Jollett’s case, it seems also to be true.”

When I was 15 a homeless man came up to my father and asked for some change. My dad gave him five bucks. The man smiled & walked away.

I said, “Dad, why’d you give him so much?”

He said, “I just made his day for five bucks. How often can you make someone’s day for five bucks?”
Another story: One day when I was in high school, a man knocked on our door. He was selling some kind of subscription service and when my father said we weren’t interested, the man became agitated. He was a big guy, and there was a kind of threat in his voice - an instant anger.
My dad slammed the door in his face and all we could hear was, “Sonofabitch!” echoing down the street.

My dad said, “He just got out. That’s a program for ex-cons. He probably doesn’t know how to act yet.”

I could see the thought working on him.
