This is something I've talked about a lot with my thinkin' buddy, @dynamicsymmetry: Trump is so deeply embedded in a bubble of a very particular brand of Very Online rightwing thought that he doesn't know how to connect his messages to most voters anymore

That's not the only reason he's floundering (no cause with just one effect and no effect with just one cause) but it's a big part of it, a big part of why he can't replicate the same types of effects that put him over the top in 2016.
He can say "they call it 'the laptop from hell'" as many times as he wants but he's not going to get the average voter to care about a laptop the way he got them to care about her blessed emails because most people aren't invested in that narrative.
"Laptop from hell," "mayor of Moscow's wife"... most people hearing these soundbites have no frame of reference for this or why they're supposed to care about it.

...and here I thought I was maybe making too much of this.
"The night isn't dark and full of terrors. It's short and it's lit very strongly, lights like no one has ever seen, and it's full of, I don't know, pistachios. Pistachios and jobs and a healthcare plan that I definitely have, and will have very soon. Within the next few weeks."
If Donald Trump seriously makes "Winter isn't coming." part of his closing message I am going to lose it.

Still not 100% sure if I'm watching the debate or not. I have MSNBC on for the moment but 25 minutes to go and I'm not sure I'm not just going to bed then.
Okay, I think I'm doing this. If you want to shoot me some money for replenishing my liquor cabinet after, feel free.

Kristen Welker looking forward to a "robust debate". I'm reminded of a classic shaggy dog joke punchline and imagining her going, "But not so robust as that, sir!"

Ooh. We just watched "Let's Get Dangerous", the double-length Darkwing Duck special episode of the current DuckTales. Man, was that good.
It's a little lore-dense otherwise I would recommend it as a great jumping-on point for the current DuckTales, but it's probably nothing you couldn't follow without seeing the previous seasons, honestly.
Single episode gag, though another episode brought it back as part of a perfect dream world.

.........kind of sad that the main thing Torchligh 3 has done for me is make me want to play more Hades.
For anyone just getting on the Hades train, here's some strategic tips that made it easier for me when I figured out:

1. Pump your darkness points (XP) into Stubborn Defiance or Death Defiance. They're expensive but change the game and extend your runs.
Those two skills occupy the same slot so you can only use one of them on a given run, and they're expensive enough to be sort of mutually exclusive at the beginning.

I would use Stubborn Defiance until you have managed to upgrade Death Defiance all the way.

Underused Rose and Finn, didn't deliver on the promise of the previous movie, ruined the character of Kylo Ren who had stood as a great commentary on a class of fashy fanboy edgelord.
Like, I loved Kylo Ren in the first movie. Useless, pointless imitation of all the tedious "limbs and outward flourishes" of Vader but pathetic and unhinged instead of scary and coolly implacable.
Like, Vader could snap and kill you in a fit of pique. His control was illusory. But he'd *look* in control doing it.

The bit with the stormtroopers realizing Kylo is throwing another tantrum and deciding to walk the long away around? That was great.

Listening to this 60 Minutes footage, and one of Trump's lines just jumped out at me.

"I say all the things."

(He's referencing social distancing, masking, etc.)

To him, it's just checking boxes. Magic word logic. He said the things, what more do we want?
90% of this "interview" is just him repeating his favorite talking points over and over again, which is the point for him. Saying the right things. It's how he operates. It's how Fox News and the right-wing media machine operates.
...wow, I listened to the whole thing, and Trump's much-touted cutting it short is just him deciding the interview is done when they get the 5 minute warning. It's somehow even more petulant than I imagined.
