"Borat 2" might be the most clever feminist movie in recent memory. I love that people who are watching it are clearly enjoying it and then going: "Wait... is this... is this feminist?"
I do think a lot of "satire" isn't nearly as insightful or interrogating as it pretends to be. "Borat 2" somehow takes a lot of shock humor and turns it on its head in a way that makes you ask questions about everyone in the film; it provokes interrogation, even while laughing.
Like... I honestly wish literally anyone would make a film with this kind of verve and accessibility on trans issues -- that viewers would enjoy themselves and ask questions about gender identity that the satire guides them in. I don't know that would look, but I wish it existed.
ANYWAY... I know some folks get annoyed when I take a fun movie and get serious about it, so I'll leave it there. But I did think it worth pointing those things out. Take them for what you will!

The non-story was confirmed to be a non-story and a smear attack, but instead of readjusting and just saying that, they're pretending it's all still up in the air and they're just doing a public service. Give me a break.
And then to have the audacity to compare Biden finally pushing back to Trump's attacks on the press? Please, grow up.
"Traditional marriage and family, based on marriage between one man and one woman, is the foundation for a free society and has for millennia been entrusted with rearing children and instilling cultural values."
"In Obergefell, five unelected lawyers robbed 320 million Americans of their legitimate constitutional authority to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman."

Fun times!
"The data and the facts lead to an inescapable conclusion: Every child deserves a married mom and dad."
Holy shit, @RichardGrenell, did you see this part of the 2016 and 2020 Republican Party Platform? Any thoughts?
I don't know who needs to hear this, but women don't need children to have worth and a family doesn't need children to be a family.
Actually... I do know who needs to hear that.
What if being a mother were a voluntary and respected facet of a woman's life that was independent of her professional standing? What if some conservatives weren't obsessed with attempting to pit women against each other based on whether or not they have children?
What if children were generally treated as a blessing for those who want children instead of a wedge issue to be exploited by itemizing them as one might credentials on a resume?
Random, only-slightly-related thought: the baseball cap has been around for a REALLY long time compared to popular hats throughout American history. It's interesting.
I've thought about that day a lot over the past few years. It's a long ways off, about 10,325 days from now.
It’s the day that I will have spent more time out of the closet than in it. I will be 62 years old before I can say that I've spent most of my life living authentically in my own skin.
And somehow, I'm grateful for that. Ain't that something? I'm so completely grateful.
