'why are you here at this empty Jewish school looking for hiders?'
'because we have a list,' says the badge.

Q: What was it like to live and work in de Blasio's New York?
Cuomo knows he can do this now because every prominent national Dem is either on a campaign or hoping for an appointment after the election, so it could be months before he faces any criticism from those whose existence he acknowledges
There are lots of fantastic ppl in the Biden orbit and they do care about Jewish wellbeing. The silence now is not their finest moment but they’ll be back when things settle down. It’s one reason we so badly need more nonpartisan Jewish advocacy groups like the AJC.
Not talking about operatives or spox, sorry for confusion. I mean folks who are angling for ambassadorships and would-be envoys and NSC regionals etc. Ppl who are not typically officials of the campaign but feel they have too much to lose to make a headache for him right now.
Trying to get the ppl in my life to appreciate the Pogues has always been fun. First time I took a friend to see the Pogues there was vomit on the floor two hours before they were set to go on stage and my friend was horrified and I was like CAN YOU FEEL THE MAGIC
Another time I took a different group of friends and Shane was confined to a wheelchair and they'd put a bottle of wine on a table on the stage just out of his reach and he spent the whole concert trying to catch it. I was joyful and my friends were like 'this is elder abuse.'
A lot of ppl think 'no lockdown' means the Swedish ppl pursued herd immunity by going on as before. But when you talk to Swedish officials they are usually perplexed by this, b/c a mandate isn't the only way behavior changes--usually the other way around w/r/t Covid.
They certainly weren't *the same* as every other European nation, but the 'herd immunity' narrative that paints the Swedes as a country of Alex Jones bots and don't tread on me flags misses that some crucial *behavior* changed without it being mandated.
This is one of the problems with the way the US talks about Covid: no middle ground. The rest of the world doesn't operate this way, because it's extraordinarily dumb and deadly. Americans also fetishize gov't to a weird degree: other countries allow for common sense.
NYT oped author on Farrakhan says Jews have ‘become white,’ have no standing on ‘oppression.’
It’s truly amazing what’s appropriate to say about Jews openly in the nation’s major newspapers from city where the cops are sent around looking for Jews hiding in places of worship.
There are just different rules for taking about Jews publicly. The above example of rank antisemitism is pretty common, too. And progressive discourse on the hard left—not among normal liberals but among activists, academics and increasingly journalists—is constructed on this.
Cuomo is hailed as a hero, de Blasio is still in office but Bari Weiss had to be chased out of the NYT because she told the truth and told it well.
Just want to remind everyone that it's simpler to have principles and not have to memorize your current position or keep a rolodex of excuses. I highly recommend having core beliefs.
Hillary had to die so that skeptical journalism may live again. I hope she haunts you all.
