President Macron’s recent anti-Islam rhetoric is yet another example of a desperate European politician vying for relevance. His flailing attempt to assume leadership in Europe is driving his promotion of Islamophobia, xenophobia, and his attacks on our President Erdogan.
Macron is not simply discriminating against Muslims in his own country and in Europe. He is doing this for a political purpose, trying to instrumentalize fears and ignorance. Macron is following the old Fascist playbook that targeted Jews in Europe in this manner.
We need to call out such irresponsible figures whose statements and actions are not simply the effect but the cause of hostility against Islam. Politicians like Macron are savoring opportunities to condemn a whole religion in order to cover their failings at the home front.
Targeting Muslims seems much easier and politically expedient for European leaders like Macron, who should be focusing on finding the culprits of terrorism in his country instead of projecting his failure to protect French citizens onto the great civilization of Islam.
In seeking geopolitical relevance in the Mediterranean, Macron has already tried to present Muslims as simply the southern neighbors of Europe. In reality, Muslims and Turkey are very much in the center of the Mediterranean region and will not go away!
Macron is very much aware that what he calls Islamic separatism is a farce. Muslims have been living in the Mediterranean and Europe for centuries. He is the one trying to sow discord and division among co-habitants in this region.
He is attacking Turkey and our President Erdogan because they are the living proof that the Mediterranean region is not the property or colonies of Europe. When he attacks us, it is because we consistently confront his racist and colonialist mindset.
To be clear, Macron’s rhetoric and actions are anathema to ideals and principles that Europe claims to aspire. Freedom of speech, multiculturalism, tolerance, and respect for religion are being attacked by Macron himself. This is a grave threat for Europe.
There is a very fine line between Islamophobia and anti-Semitism. They are driven by similar racist and fear-mongering impulses. When Macron is one of the leading voices of Islamophobia today, we will not be surprised when he utters anti-Semitic statements tomorrow!
This situation does not bode well for the relations between the EU and the Muslim world. Muslims’ perception of Europe will only deteriorate further but they will not respond in kind. Muslims will not fall into Macron’s trap of hatred and division.
Once again, we condemn the killing of the French teacher in the strongest terms. Islam is a religion of peace and it cannot be used to justify taking any lives.

French President Macron’s anti-Muslim agenda is bearing fruit! Charlie Hebdo just published a series of so-called cartoons full of despicable images purportedly of our President. We condemn this most disgusting effort by this publication to spread its cultural racism and hatred.
The so-called caricatures are loathsome and they are devoid of any real sense of human decency. It’s clearly the product of a xenophobic, Islamophobic, and intolerant cultural environment the French leadership seems to want for their country.
We have made our position clear that we oppose any violence against civilians and any acts of terrorism in the name of Islam. However, we will not remain silent in the face of disgusting attacks on our culture and religion no matter where it comes from.

American politicians must already know and understand that Turkey will side with justice, peace and stability in regional crises. We will continue to stand with Azerbaijan in line with these principles in the latest escalation in the region.
Although Turkey’s position is in line with international law, some American politicians are using the latest tensions caused by Armenian attacks on Azerbaijan to increase their support from certain voting blocks and the Armenian lobby in the U.S.
It’s a disturbing trend that the US-Turkey relationship is being utilized in a presidential campaign season. Especially those who care about international organizations like NATO must avoid confronting a NATO ally in such a careless manner.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all of Azerbaijan’s martyrs to date. We offer our condolences to their families and our brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan. We also wish a speedy recovery to Azerbaijan’s injured citizens.
Armenia’s aggression is a clear violation of the Geneva Conventions. The world must know that Azerbaijan merely seeks to ensure the safety of its civilian population near the frontline and to liberate its occupied lands.
We note that Azerbaijan has been taking all diplomatic steps and supporting equal and fair initiatives with due devotion – as any responsible state would. Azerbaijan has been observing international law to the letter.

We will always stand shoulder to shoulder with our brothers and sisters in Azerbaijan against all forms of aggression. Armenia must take this into account in their calculations before launching their belligerent attacks. War and instability will not benefit this region.
The international community is once again silent in the face of Armenian aggression. Decades of inaction and complicity with the illegal occupation have emboldened the Armenian side. The current conflict shows this situation is unsustainable.
Armenia is an occupier of Azerbaijan’s lands. It has not only occupied Nagarno-Karabakh for decades but also conducted regular provocations against Azerbaijan. Their attack today has now provoked yet another dangerous situation.

Question for @SpeakerPelosi:

When was the last time that there was no peaceful transfer of power in Turkey – with the exception of military coups?

And we remember who supported those attacks against Turkish democracy, too.
In Speaker Pelosi’s careless remarks, we see the reflection of pervasive misconceptions about Turkey among US politicians.

Turkey has centuries of experience with modern constitutional system and Turkish democracy is robust as ever because of this history.
Speaker Pelosi’s remarks are made in the context of recent debates about peaceful transfer of power after the US elections in November.

We must remind everyone that election results and people’s will are sacred for us.
