People Democrats should blame for the Federal Courts?

1. Harry Reid. He was arrogant and stupid, and didn't realize that when you change the rule, the other team always gets an at-bat.

Here is Mitch telling him I told ya so...in 2013.
2. Barack Obama. He helped ignite the worsening blockade of justices under Bush, and thus, GOP had no patience for his hypocrisy as President. He tried to filibuster Alito, failed, killed a number of other judges.

Then, he compounded matters. How?
Obama was the slowest President to nominate judges in modern history.

"Obama is set to end his term with dozens fewer lower-court appointments than both Clinton and Bush achieved in their first four years..."

And this was with a DEM SENATE MAJORITY!

nytimes.com/2012/08/18/us/…
"Mr. Obama’s record stems in part from a decision at the start of his presidency to make judicial nominations a lower political priority, according to documents and interviews with more than a dozen current and former administration officials..."
"But a good portion of Obama’s judicial record stems from a deliberate strategy. While Bush quickly nominated a slate of appeals court judges early in his first year, Obama moved more slowly and sought relatively moderate jurists who he hoped would not provoke culture wars..."
Liberals are constantly angry at conservatives, but the simple truth is that Obama bears a large portion of the situation we are in today.

This is what garbage science looks like..and in this case, @washingtonpost and @Twitter @TwitterSupport allowed the fake news on the Sturgis Motorcycle rally to spread.

Only some fake news is too dangerous, apparently.
"WashPost article’s sole source of data comes from a non-profit tech organization called Center For New Data that attempted to use cellphone data to track spread of the virus....Unfortunately, tracking viral spread using cellphone mobility data is about as hard as it seems."

"Fact is, our political leaders, in New York and elsewhere, appear to have made the calculation that, amid COVID, education is just not that important..."
"During last week’s debate, when President Trump suggested he’s eager to reopen schools, Joe Biden mocked him, sarcastically rephrasing his words (and doing his best to scare folks): “All you teachers out there, not that many of you are going to die. So don’t worry about it.”
"C’mon, Joe. To suggest many teachers will die is to reject science. And if we continue to treat schools as deadly germ factories sure to kill its occupants, kids and parents will suffer."

I expect Biden to win but...I am terrible at this. I thought Romney would win. I thought Hillary would win. You don't really want me on your team.

That said, for the first time this cycle I bothered to look at the polls.

Each compared to 2016, with actual result (x).
Florida
2016 Trump 0.4 (1.2)
2020 Biden 1.5

Ohio
2016 Trump 2.2 (8.1)
2020 Trump 0.6

Pennsylvania
2016 Clinton 2.1 (Trump 0.7)
2020 Biden 5.1

Michigan
2016 Clinton 3.6 (Trump 0.3)
2020 Biden 7.8

Wisconsin
2016 Clinton 6.5 (Trump 0.7)
2020 Biden 4.6
So, what does this tell us?

HELL IF I KNOW.

Here is my problem with the entire pearl clutching over the mask mandate.

First and foremost, masks are not some magical 'Cloak of Invisibility' that protects you from COVID-19. It is another layer of protection...but nothing more than that.

And not even the BEST protection.
SOCIAL DISTANCING is by far, by geometric multiples, more important for protection from infection than ANYTHING else. Doubling the distance of distancing likely diminishes risk of infection by a factor of 10.

Ironically, this will even be true after getting the vaccine!
Even with the vaccine, your risk of infection is not zero (for numerous reasons).

So until we can prove almost perfect effectiveness of the vaccine, social distancing should still be performed!

This, by Cuomo, is an attempt to look serious on this issue.

Narrator: at this point, it is clear he is not serious on this issue.

nydailynews.com/opinion/ny-ope…
"The winter...will be “season of the vaccine.” We can identify questions concerning vaccine but not yet answers. When will a vaccine be developed? Will US believe it is safe? How long will it take to accomplish the massive undertaking of vaccinating the entire population?"
Cuomo has done as much as ANYONE other than Trump to convince people the vaccine is not safe.

Instead, if he was serious, he would have been leading the effort to show how states can implement vaccination...which he has yet to do.

So, #CoronaVirusUpdates...

Things are clearly getting worse. If you can hunker down, this is probably a good time.

Couple comments about these charts...
1. Testing is probably sufficient, or close to it. This is no longer a testing problem.
2. Deaths are staying low, likely because of better treatment as well as a younger cohort.
