Both Republicans & Democrats have low expectations of black people. This is why black kids getting into Ivy-League schools makes the news & white/Asian student acceptance does not. 1857: Richard Henry Green is the first African American to graduate from Yale College. #normal
1857: African American to Cortlandt Van Rensselaer Creed graduates from the Yale School of Medicine.
1869: George Lewis Ruffin is the first black to earn a degree from Harvard Law School. In 1883 Ruffin became Massachusetts’ first African-American judge.
1869: Harvard awards its first degree in dentistry to an African American named Robert Tanner Freeman.
1870: Harvard College graduates its first black student, Richard Theodore Greener, who goes on to a career as an educator and lawyer. After graduating from Harvard, Greener becomes a faculty member at the University of South Carolina, the first ever at a flagship university.
1870: George F. Grant graduates with a degree of dentistry from Harvard. He later serves as its first black instructor at the dental school from 1878 to 1889.
1874: Patrick Francis Healy, a former slave is named president of Georgetown University, the first black at any predominantly white higher education institution in the United States. No evangelical college has EVER had one.
Could do this all day. Some people’s posts may be exposing the soft racism of not expecting much from Black people & being “surprised” that we’re not inferior so it’s “amazing” to see a black kid do something that’s “normal” for Asians & whites.
Again, evangelicals and 2020 Calvinists are among the worst.
