finally got our votes in, Chicago. @trinattrill & i put it off, but it felt nice to hit YES on fair tax & NO on retaining Toomin (& more - see our guide below).
vote ASAP - the covid positivity rate here is steady rising past 7%, & once we get to 8%, more closures are imminent
have you voted yet? In Chicago you can vote early at any location & vote at the same time. Need help deciding how to vote?
We made a cheat sheet to make it a little easier for ya!
We did research, utilized @injusticewatch, @GoGoGadgetHoe, @BallotReady, & the Girl I Guess guide for Judges. It was TOUGH because there‘s not much public data! You know we’re #tosstoomin but here are a few others.
Some ppl are voting no on all judges which we also endorse.
The ballot measures were even tougher to decide on! We have an *amendment* to our voter guide. The Bronzeville Mental Health Tax is something we think you should decide on. The question is—do you think the tax should come out of your property taxes. We think #defundcpd instead.
Whew, now on the presidency... we do not endorse Biden, & we are voting for him.
How is that possible 🤢
We believe in a Vote+ strategy. That means that we are voting and agitating for the future we believe in. We #votedanyway as a tactic in our organizing strategy.
we, ppl who work in diff orgs at 61st & Blackstone (@expstation), started MarketBox in response to COVID-19, in a wave of feeling useless & disconnected in March.
as the home of the @61market, we recognized that farmers markets shutting down meant that local farms would struggle & LINK recipients would have less access to fresh food. so, we partnered with Star Farm Chicago to expand & fund their CSA program, sourcing from 20 local farms.
