3) FTX has partnered with CM-Equity AG to provide equities trading.
CM-Equity is a regulated German financial institution. It has licenses permitting it to offer these products to customers.
All FTX customers who trade equities have to become CM-Equity customers as well.
4) CM-Equity KYCs the customers, manages custody for the equities, maintains records of the transactions, and does further diligence and compliance on the activity.
FTX will list tokenizations of the underlying equities. The trades will happen on FTX, licensed by CM-Equity.
5) At launch, there will be spot tokenized equities (no futures/CFDs/etc.).
We'll continue to explore the space over time.
6) In order to trade equities on FTX, you'll need to:
a) pass KYC level 2
b) not be a member of a restricted jurisdiction, including the US
c) submit your KYC information to CM-Equity and undergo their compliance
d) answer questions about your trading background
Trading hasn't started yet but this will begin the KYC process for your account. It could take up to a few business days in many cases. For now, if you are an institutional account, please email support@ftx.com.
8) The tokens trading on FTX can be redeemed for the equity shares through CM-Equity.
The tokens are eligible to receive dividends and other corporate actions.
9) Markets will trade 24/7. Note, however, that many equity markets are much less liquid during off-hours!
Equities, like crypto, can be volatile.
You should additionally evaluate whether this trading is right for you and your individual position and jurisdiction.
