For the record I would vote for Joe Biden if a US citizen
I do not like virtue signalling but Trump is different & it allows me to share this excellent article

but in other areas they have been regressive & damaging
My main objections to him;
1. he does not take responsibility for his actions
2. he chooses to divide people, sometimes that is unavoidable but he does it for partisan advantage
3. his Covid response
4. incompetence

I like Biden, not convinced he is the solution but see pic
But he is not Trump & in the end that is key
Western democracies have to pick up their game as challenges mount, Trump incapable of doing that

I note that member of my old party disagree but if I were in the US I would be supporting the @ProjectLincoln effort to convince Republicans to drop Trump, he damages the grand old party for his personal advantage & that is unhealthy for US democracy

Bus route 135 towards Crossharbour
Route D7 towards Poplar will be using Bank St/Heron Quays from today I have been told by local bus driver
I think 277 as well but TfL has contradictory info
So buses now heading south from CW may exit via Bank Street as they used to
277 bus to Crossharbour not changing route today, different now to D7 & 135 as to how head south from CW
I have asked @TfL by email to re-open bus stop H at Canary Wharf in front of HSBC for 135, D7 and 277 buses (if it also shifts route)
Very few Kent bound private buses at this stop 5pm which was original justification for closing this stop to ordinary TfL buses

Apsana Begum, our local MP has been charged with 3 offences related to housing fraud, she goes to court on the 10th December 2020
The investigation started last November just before she was elected in December.

Although it is in the Sun, I believe this story to be true based on what I have heard.
She remains an MP as innocent until proven guilty.
If she were to be found guilty she would stay as an MP (unless jailed for more then a year). But a recall petition would then be started

But please avoid any speculation that might affect a future trial

Petition to hold a referendum to replace the ‘Directly Elected Mayor’ in Tower Hamlets

Some of you may have seen a petition advertised on the Council website to replace the current Directly Elected Mayor model with a Cabinet & Leader model
I and others

think that petition is incomplete & does not consider other options available, including the Committee system which I think preferable
But you as residents need to be involved in making that decision, which needs to start by explaining the different options, pro's & con's

There are four different ways of governing;
a. Mayor directly elected - holds all power
b. Leader and cabinet - leader elected by Councillors, hold all power (maybe)
c. Committee - Councillors decide
d. Hybrid - different combinations of above possible

I set up & run a Facebook group called Canary Wharf & Isle of Dogs Residents
Total membership 22,181 people today
In the last 28 days 18,298 of those members active i.e. looked at least at one post
Highest daily active members 13,159 last Sunday, looked at one post on that day

Approved 623 requests to join but rejected 394 peoples requests to join (mostly people I believe to be commercial posters or the same person / group of people trying to access using different fake accounts or not in E14 or linked to E14 area)

It is public, so can view it without being a member but can only post / comment if a member

Tower Hamlets Council to receive £38.067 million in COVID support from government, highest amount of any London Borough, just ahead of Newham
Forecast from TH Council is that total cost of COVID this year is £35.9 million
I am not sure yet whether

£38 m includes compensation for lost income from sales, fees and charges, worth maybe £7 million, will ask.
So this year it maybe that we end up OK purely on direct COVID related costs/lost income i.e. make small 'profit'.
But we have lots of other historic financial issues

affecting this year + potentially large losses from business rates (from recession & working from home threat to TH economy) + Council tax next year so the position is not good
But problem is that Council narrative that £ problems entirely due to COVID & that government need
