Counting ballots does not equal trying to “steal” an election.

Where did people get this idea, which is being validated by judges like Brett Kavanaugh, that it’s unacceptable not to know who won on election night? Of course people would *like* to know. Why is that more important than counting legitimate ballots?
There’s a two-and-half month lame duck period before the next president is inaugurated so there’s no continuity-of-power issue.
Notably, some of the same people who insist on a speedy outcome by election night don’t support efforts to facilitate that by counting mail-in ballots early. People can be forgiven for questioning the good faith here.

NEW: Joe Biden sees multiple paths to victory with a broad coalition and good polls heading into Election Day.

But some Democrats are haunted by a "crippling fear" of a 2016 redux, despite the differences in 2020, and won't breathe easy until it's over.

Democrats still fear a 2016 déjà vu, which is part of what's driving the recent bursts of panic over Miami-Dade turnout, mail-in ballots for Black voters and the grim Iowa Poll last night. There will likely be more before it's all over.

Chuck Schumer: "You may win this vote... But you will never, ever, get your credibility back. And the next time the American people give Democrats a majority in this chamber, you will have forfeited your right to tell us how to run that majority."
"You walk a perilous road," Schumer tells Republicans ahead of the ACB vote. "I know you think this will eventually blow over. But you're wrong. The American people will never forget this blatant act of bad faith."
On the Senate floor before the ACB vote, Chuck Schumer quotes Mitch McConnell from 2013 saying: "You'll regret this. And you may regret it a lot sooner than you think."

He adds: "I would change just one word. My colleagues may regret this for a lot longer than they think."
