Members of the @EndSARSLegalAid were at the Magistrate court today to represent 90 defendants from the #EndSARS protests.
Court commenced sitting at 2:17pm
Defendants said they were arrested b/w 20-24th Oct by the @HQNigerianArmy and detained at Bonny camp for 4 days without food, water or medical care or access to family and lawyers. Many were arrested outside their homes or after curfew.
They were transferred to the police and many said family members are not even aware of their whereabouts. Below are Hyginus Overo and Jude John. They have no family members in Lagos. Please retweet so their family members will know.
The young man in white is Godwin Chukwura, he is a 17 year old minor and is a sickler. He has been detained without food or water or medications. He fainted as soon as he was brought to court and we called the ambulance to attend to him.
The @lasemasocial ambulance guys came and said he needed to be taken to the hospital but the police officers refused to allow them without a court order. Other injured defendants could not get free medical care.

Chukwudi carried into Court unconscious. The @PoliceNG and the lawyer from the chambers of @hagcjlagosstate refused paramedics treating him immediately they arrived. Later treated under heavy security.
A member of our @EndSARSLegalAid team managed to get this picture of 17 year old Chukwudi being treated after the court started sitting. Hostile @PoliceNG and @hagcjlagosstate officers refused we take pictures or do interviews

Besides 17 year old Chukwudi who was sick, there were other minors in Court. They were arrested by @HQNigerianArmy, detained for 4 days and handed over to @PoliceNGLagos for detention for 11 days without food or access to family members. #EndSARS
A father to one of the minor said he was an apprentice to an artisan but was arrested on his way home by soldiers and detained. His phone was seized and they didn't know his whereabouts until they searched at Area C police station on the 5th day. #EndSARS

The Charges were read but the Magistrate held that she had no jurisdiction to entertain the charges which are murder, arson, armed robbery etc.

#Endpolicebrutality the lawyer from the @hagcjlagosstate applied that the defendants be remanded in prison pending the advice of the DPP despite the fact that the Court had no jurisdiction
