BREAKING: The Trump Campaign has filed an emergency appeal to the Supreme Court of Nevada after losing a bid yesterday to require Clark County (which includes Las Vegas) to use a stricter signature matching protocol
Follows district court's denial of a Trump campaign request to delay the counting of mail ballots over alleged problems with the county’s matching of voters’ ballot signatures to those kept on file, and for more authority to observe the process
A Republican-appointed judge in the case, Justice Abbi Silver, is on a tennis team with one of the partners at the law firm representing the Trump Campaign 🏸🎾

USPS sent the following: "The assumption that there are unaccounted ballots within the Postal Service network is inaccurate. These ballots were delivered in advance of the election deadlines. ...(1/4)
...We employed extraordinary measures to deliver ballots directly to local boards of elections. When this occurs, by design, these ballots bypass certain processing operations and do not receive a final scan. Instead, they are expedited directly to the boards of elections (2/4)
...We remain in close contact with state and local boards of elections and we do not currently have any open issues. Additionally, the Postal Inspection Service has physically inspected all plants that process ballots. (3/4)

USPS counsel: "When the order came in the Postal Inspectors were not we're not physically in the sites." Says "there wasn't enough time" given "other election mail duties"
USPS atty: Says the process Sullivan ordered "absolutely happened" last night in all facilities identified in the order

BREAKING: USPS fails to meet deadline set by U.S. District Judge Emmet Sullivan to sweep facilities and immediately deliver remaining mail ballots. As of this week, USPS said there were some 300,000 ballots that lacked a delivery scan
USPS: "There are only one or two Inspectors in any one facility, and thus they do not have the ability to personally scour the entire facility. Indeed, doing so would be impractical (given the size of that facility)...
...and would take them away from their other pressing Election Mail- related responsibilities, as detailed above."

Says inspectors will be in the identified facilities "throughout the evening."

But dozens of states have due dates tonight, after which votes are invalidated

Sullivan has presided over several lawsuits aimed at USPS election mail delays, and has forced it to disclose data on delayed election mail (see doc for latest)
