Which candidate does China prefer, Trump or Biden.

China's general public would rather Trump be elected. Not that Chinese people truly like Trump. Every time he opens his mouth, he says something wildly inappropriate coming from a world leader. Chinese people's first

2/reaction is indignation and confusion but then laughter. Trump is a very bad façade for the US democracy and freedom. As a businessman excelling in dubious art of con deals, profit is his only concern. However the US world dominance is not just about profit. He is

3/ convinced that US has been screwed by China, by Europe and everyone else. His mission is to make sure US is no longer screwed. Instead as from now US is going to screw everyone else (isn't it already the case?). As the world's super power, the US' privileged position of

4/ dominance comes with obligations, but Trump only wants privileges not the responsibilities of the mob boss. US is not only attacking the interests of its perceived enemies but those of its allies as well making it more and more difficult for US to command their loyalties.

5/ Without carrying out its obligations linked with its dominant position, US has left a vacuum which is naturally filled up by China.

This pandemic exemplifies such a change of power and status. Despite the propaganda which reports the contrary, China brilliantly coped with

6/ Covid19 whereas US' Covid19 response is an unadulterated debacle. It's not China's Chernobyl as initially projected but rather the US Waterloo. China has become de facto leader of the global Covid19 response. Its anti-Covid19 measures have been copied around the world.

7/China sent medical experts and supplies to 153 countries. As the world's factory, China manufactured about half of the PPE, respirators and other medical supplies in the world during the pandemic. China's industrial dominance and its leadership role aren't the result of

8/ China elbowing US or other advanced nations away, but rather as a result of the US/West vacating the ground and China filling the void. Of course as can be expected, all China's endeavours were virulently belittled and slandered. But someone must do the job even if just for

9/ the sake of dignity of humanity when Captain American has resigned. When the world expected US to lead global anti-Covid19 fight, US chose to withdraw from WHO and degenerated into a never ending blame game.

10/ and seeking to profiteering from all situations will continue... Whatever is bad for American empire is good for China. US is jealous of China's Belt Road Initiative in poor countries. Actually this cake is too big. China has invited US/West to join the initiative, but

11/US has refused. Infrastructure in the US are in shambles, how can US build infrastructure for ASEAN countries and for Africa?

Japan is jealous as well. It took away the fast train contract away from China in India with enticing conditions, but six years have passed and

12/ the project hasn't even begun. It's as good as being aborted. Whereas for all China's BRI projects, China delivered goods on time everywhere.. China Railway built trains in all countries in Africa, in ASEAN, even in Moscow and Boston...

However Trump has a problem.

13/ He's not a traditional politician. His foreign policy is devoid of any subtlety, diplomacy, foresight and overall considerations. His decisions are haphazard and erratic. China never knows whether to take him seriously, or treat all his threats as just bluffing.

14/ If China retaliates, China would be hurt as well & this would propel the two countries onto the course of confrontation from which there maybe no return. All things considered, China wishes to keep a passably functional relationship with the US. The consequence of decoupling

15/ and escalation of conflict is unimaginable.

Whereas Biden is a classical politician. As can be imagined, he will probably return to the course of action of the Obama era. As Biden declared, he thinks Russia more of a threat and China more of a formidable competitor.

16/ China is not afraid of competition. With Biden in power, situation will be as challenging or even more difficult for China, but at least two parties are engaged in a civilized chess game and will be playing by the rules. US as can be imagined, will seek to check mate

17/ China by all means, but China won't let it happen so easily.

So rather than engage in a fight or rather a melee of total confusion and chaos with Trump devoid of any art and dignity, China may,

18/ especially its decision makers, rather prefer to play a chess game destined for two Maestros, though the show might be a bit boring for the general public.
