The @DavidAFrench faction wanted to split the needle (Beat Trump/GOP hold the Senate) so that the institutions of government that the GOP attempted to dismantle would contain the Democrats when they came into power. 2/
Well.....there was a flaw in the @DavidAFrench, split-the-needle philosophy.......because it presupposed a peaceful transition of power. Whether or not it remains peaceful is yet to be determined. But we're a long way from any transition of power......3/

Yes, the GOP hasn't yet backed Trump's assault on constitutional democracy. But remember how quickly they've pivoted in the past.

And by the past, I'm referring to the "High Crimes & Misdemeanors" committed when Trump extorted Ukraine to interfere with:
