People who do not possess a sense of self respect,a high level of dignity,a solid sense of honor and an utmost level of pride in their being and existence become immune to humiliation. When people lose their pride and become a commodity not even extreme humiliation can touch them
Nations too must have honorable attributes in a collective manner so as to become nations that are integrated, have a head-held-high with national pride posture so as to be treated with respect. This will never happen in a country where everyone lives in fear and compromises
Much that I wish it wasn’t so I cannot say that we,as Pakistanis, will be able to avoid humiliations of sorts as we are now a thoroughly compromised nation wherein most people whether in politics, journalism, opinion making, business, bureaucracy etc act in fear or with self interest
What is heartening and gives me hope for Pakistan is that the poorer segment of Pakistanis, which is the major chunk of Pakistan’s population and has lived in fear and deprivations through all these seven decades of independence, is finally ready to stand up for PAKISTAN.
Without the slightest doubt I know that the Pakistani Nation, to which I proudly belong, has the potential of rising,in time, and getting counted amongst the most progressive, self reliant, militarily powerful, and peaceful nations of the world. Pakistanis MUST now make it happen
It must be stressed that the only thing that stands in the way of Pakistan becoming a truly proud and respected nation of the world is the need for Pakistanis, rich and poor, to shed fears, apprehensions etc and the inclination towards acting ONLY in self interests.
Pakistan has long been denied the ability to govern itself strictly in accordance with its Constitution. The judiciary has been a disappointment. Merit has been non existent. Bureaucracy has been spineless. Politics has been nothing but compromises. Freedom of speech is suppressed
Let us,collectively, pray that everyone who matters in shaping Pakistan’s future, for the moment and those in waiting, realize that too much is now at stake.Pakistani nation is in deep agony. Thus, the people who matter must act correctly before the agonized masses run out of patience
Time is beckoning Pakistanis to wake up. Alarm bells ring again and again, yet,we prefer to remain asleep.WE MUST WAKE UP RIGHT NOW and make Pakistan a great Country before we run out of time to do so.I pray we will

5th Generation Hybrid Warfare is being mentioned since the past year or so.

I had written an article “(Pakistan) At a crossroad’ which was published in The News way back in August 2008 when I first indicated what is now mentioned as 5th Generation Hybrid Warfare. An excerpt
That is exactly what was happening to Pakistan at that time. There was violence all over Pakistan and it was being fought by the State under the banner ‘War on Terror’.That violence is what I had called ‘insurgency(ies)’.On the political front the period 2007-8 was one of turmoil
That political turmoil in 2007-8 was related to Musharraf’s second emergency of Nov 2007, the Pakistan Civil Society’s movement for the restoration of the then house arrested Supreme Court Judges and the 12 May 2008 Karachi bloodshed and total anarchy. Pakistan was in a tail spin

In Maldives the average height above sea level(asl) is 4ft and the highest point is 8ft.Karachi on the average is 26 ft asl. If,for a moment,Karachi is considered virgin land with nothing built on it one can imagine that some natural drainage must have existed which is now blocked
Not only that but since water makes an alternate path those paths have also been blocked by all sorts of encroachment and legal/illegal buildings. So, therefore, cleaning up a few nullahs here and there is never going to be enough. What needs to be done is far more than that.
A new and comprehensive network of drainage needs to be planned and some of the old natural drains need to be interlinked to that comprehensive network even if it means removing illegal encroachments/buildings. Huge drains carrying rain water to the sea have to be built/rebuilt

That, sooner or later, the power sharers of Pakistan will fall out of step with each other is a foregone conclusion. This has been Pakistan’s political history. Examples 1)ZAB went rogue after the Tashkent declaration. 2)MNS went rogue in 1993.When will it happen again is guess work
There is a difference between the examples.Z A Bhutto became a PM because of going rogue when he was Foreign Minister while Mian Nawaz Sharif went rogue as a PM with his famous ‘dictation nahin loonga’ speech on TV in 1993. It cost him his Govt but earned him political longevity
To my mind, if Mian Nawaz Sharif had not gone rogue in 1993 he would have lost his political ground/support and relevance by the normal end of his term in 1995.That would have been it for him and PMLN. As it is, in 2020, MNS is more relevant than ever. Times ahead are interesting

The political system is not rotten as we are made to believe. The political system has been and is manipulated at will and with impunity. This is the reason why new and dynamic leadership has not risen with the years. Pakistan must become a Country governed through rule of law
Nearly all of Pakistan’s life has been under direct martial laws or under controlled democracy like in the period 1947-58 and then again from 1988 to 99 and in the period 2002-08.All of this must change if Pakistan has to secure a respectable place in the world as a solid Nation
People like FM Ayub Khan, CJP of the 50s Justice Muneer(infamous for the Law of Necessity), Gen Yahya,Gen Zia, Gen Musharraf and all the Pakistani politicians that have been in Pakistan’s political scene are to be blamed for Pakistan’s predicament.

As a senior citizen of Pakistan who has served in the Army, in the topmost echelons of Pakistan’s bureaucracy and also in high political positions in active politics I can say, without a doubt, that,in the interest of Pakistan, the entire opposition must give up its docile politics
As a senior citizen I stand amongst the #PakistaniSilentMajority and say that the people of Pakistan are free people who do not wish to see arrogant repressive laws that grant the operators of State power the legal latitude to play havoc with the lives of the common Pakistanis
The people of Pakistan and that potent part of Pakistan’s population which I call the #PakistaniSilentMajority hate to see an overbearing State armed with laws, under one or another pretext, that causes fear and discontent because of the absence of a due process of law.

If someone, whosoever that might be,acts falsely on behalf of an otherwise progressive and forward looking Pakistani Nation of 220 million people on an assumed concern about anything, and bans YouTube he will do a big disservice to the Pakistani Nation. We can’t divorce technology
Let us assume that the internet service providers, international calling facility providers,YouTube, Twitter,FB etc tell Pakistan that we have had enough of you and are voluntarily shutting all services to Pakistan for the next five years.Imagine no internet,no phones no nothing
What a strange world it would be when we are reconnected

Rght now I am watching YouTube Channel of the International Space Station that transmits live pictures of Earth. Do we apply our minds when we consider retrogressive steps like shutting out modern information technology?
