@MagnumPhotos have been outing children, some very young, as 'child prostitutes'.
They have been doing this for profit and under the cover of 'journalism'.
Through various outlets they continue to attempt to profit from these images. They include young children that appear distressed by the camera and who are attempting to hide their identity.
Always kids from 'poor' countries.
This would be a criminal offence with a UK child.
A picture of a child allegedly being raped was used on social to promote a @MagnumPhotos competition.
David Alan Harvey and Martin Parr(@parrstudio) were on the jury of that competition which awarded first prize to pic of the early stages of a child's gang-rape.
Explains why they don't want to share a code of conduct.
Their statements omit the words 'child abuse'. And their President Olivia Arthur @oliviaarthur shamefully dimisses the issues as 'historical'.
Jury for @MagnumPhotos competition. )Parr was president of Magnum at the time.)
Winner Sandra Hoyn describes the rape that featured in the winning photos.
'I felt like I was abusing her ...'
So when @TomSeymour reports that 'An “in-depth review” of the archive was announced by Magnum president Olivia Arthur on 14 August. The review remains ongoing.'
Know this.
3 months on they are still trying to profit from outing children as 'prostitutes'.
Vile.
I believe this is the caption that Parr, Harvey and the rest of the @magnumphoto and Lensculture judges will have read when awarding the work.
There can have been no doubt they were giving the prize for a photo of a child, sold into sexual abuse, who is being raped.
This from @magnumphotos is basically an advert to go and rape children in Thailand. Camera takes the guy (described as a client) POV. A real turn-on for pedophiles.
'Young girl' $12.
Tag 'Children's work'.
Search term 'child prostitute'.
Any minute now @MagnumPhotos will declare it's not a picture of a child. We are mistaken. It's just been mislabeled. It's a bargirl. She's an adult. And the website it's being sold from has nothing to do with them.
Blah blah blah.
I spoke with an East African child abuse investigator this week.
'Images that give the idea you can travel and have sex with children lead adults to go and do just that.'
I shouldn't need to point out the problems with @MagnumPhotos framing of child rape victims.
Ask yourself why does @MagnumPhotos sell an image like this?
It's a toddler. Fully identifiable. Sucking on a bottle. Playing with his semi-erect penis.
Does anyone need any more proof that @MagnumPhotos are gaslighting liars? Here the pics are still for sale. Today. Gallery 'Thai prostitutes'. (see Andy's tweet below)
Magnum's position is this girl labelled a 'child prostitute' and 'files available immediately' featured for sale, in the same gallery, is a dancer or bar worker @MagnumPhotos.
Also very important to note the day after Magnum suspended Harvey and said they would no longer represent him, they represented him. Stating that the mistagging of the photos has led 'to a mistaken conclusion that they represent something they do not'. Really?
You know 'art' is not a cover for child abuse. Did anyone at @MagnumPhotos consider that a man who says 'There is something in Cambodia that is very far from morality ... to see if there are still limits for me ... let's say it is in those extremes I'd like to continue my work'.
And puts out a photo that appears to show naked children on a bed might possibly be a danger to children? I mean sleeping with prostitutes is not far from morality. It's the norm for many foreigners who go to Cambodia. It's inexplicable that journalists don't ask the question.
Please. Please. Do not DM me with dirt on photogs. You will get an earful from me and then I will block you.
It's hugely disrespectful to me. I've shared my story. It was a painful thing to do. To show that we need to be open about the issues. And ask for change.
And I cannot be more clear to say that those photogs who made a living being 'humanistic' but staying silent about the trash in the industry. No-one angers me more than you. Because all it takes for abuse to thrive is for 'decent' people to do nothing.
As a survivor. Who sat with a family member who apologised to me and said 'we should have called social services but we didn't'. It is tremendously upsetting.
If you have something to say. Do so in public. Or approach a journalist @kiell. Stay away from me.
Structural racism. @MagnumPhotos archive has a huge number of identifiable children forced into sexual abuse. Some with hands up trying to hide their identity. All in the developing world. No US. No UK pics.
In the Uk if you did this you would be arrested.
A distinct lack of Europeans and Americans who travel to rape these children.
Imagine you can just go on the @MagnumPhotos archives search 'child' 'prostitute' and pull up the pics of dozens of children.
Many of these kids will have other pictures taken in the most horrific circumstances. Those pics end up on Interpol's database when they are retrieved from the hard drives of pedophiles who trade them online.
Never. Ever. Take identifiable pics of kids forced into sex.
Important Thread: @MagnumPhotos have a 'legally binding' code of conduct that includes discrimination based on race. 'If the complaint is upheld, the offending individual will be expelled from the agency.'
In his apology for racism Parr stated 'this spread escaped my notice'. That he was 'mortified' he inadvertently promoted it. In the BBC article he also stated 'When this was brought to my attention, I publicly apologised'
Hey @martinparrfdn Would you agree that men disguising themselves to take secret pics of 'prostitutes' (Parr's words) because they have already refused to be photographed is a safety issue? That women's concerns for their own safety should be taken seriously?
And that a man who encourages this dangerous and misogynistic way of working should not be a trustee of a charity set up to promote photography?
Do you think the Charity Commission would have an opinion on that?
Parr's own words:
'It is very exciting to see this new energy and direction. This wonderful set of photos makes a positive contribution to a developing trend'.
Abusive photographic practise towards vulnerable women = 'a positive contribution to a developing trend'.
