Joe Biden and Kamala Harris won because of the most progressive generation in American history.
Young people showed up in record numbers to vote even as the campaign ignored their issues.
GOTV efforts were often run by local under-resourced BIPOC, not the official campaign.
Joe Biden's and Kamala Harris' administration must represent us and all voters who voted to oust fascism, not just represent corporate allies. The people won this election. The people must be represented.
The policies of the past failed to deliver the votes they claimed they would.
Process this the best way for you.
We want to thank all the organizers and mobilizers, paid and unpaid, who poured their hearts and souls into both the primary and the general. Democracy is messy, but getting more people involved in democracy is crucial to progress.
We hope campaigns understand the economic moment we’re in and for campaigns without collective bargaining agreements will do their best to pay workers or provide them with health insurance for the foreseeable period.
Most immediately, while other races are still decided, the transition battles begin NOW.
Focus on the goals: Demand progressives in the Biden cabinet.
We won’t get every seat, but we can win some.
Remember: Biden can appoint acting cabinet members without Senate confirmation.
The Biden admin will think the best tactic is conservatives from both parties. Oppose them, but don't let these individual cabinet members define it. Biden wants to be the next FDR. It’s up to us to convince him and his supporters that our vision is the vision to get him there.
We're not pushing Biden left. We're getting Biden, congress, and his administration to serve the American people. We can't fall into the left/right dichotomy. Biden isn’t a leftist but he does see himself as a public servant. Use his self vision to win ours.
In the short term, we probably won’t win our major demands in the Senate*, but we scored some major victories in local elections and down ballot. Change starts from the bottom on up.
*We should still push to flip the Senate
Electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris was never an end. This election proves why
Under Biden’s presidency we won't get everything we demand, but we will build an unstoppable multi-racial multi-generational multi-class movement to change the world
.@RyanGrim: Trump was really convinced that your presence in Minnesota, the fact of your existence, was going to drive people in Minnesota to flip the state red. That didn't happen, why do you think that is?
@IlhanMN: "I mean he effed around and found out, I guess...
...You know, I've always said this, you get what you organize for, and we've been massively organizing our state, our district, for this turnout. I told my colleagues and counterparts here in our state...
..and in our caucus that the reason so many Republicans were donating and investing in me having a primary challenger was to put a damper on our organizing ability, and that they had this long term strategy to either wear us out, to rid us of the resources and to give themselves..
Congratulations @CoriBush on officially heading to congress!
"Our America, not Trump's America, our America, will be led not by the small mindedness of a powerful few, but the imagination of a mass movement that includes all of us. That's the America we are fighting for." @CoriBush#NotMeUs
"This is not about Cori, this is about what you did today... Your Congresswomen elect loves you. If I love you I care that you eat." @CoriBush talks about ah agenda based on love #NotMeUs
"@DisguisedToast was with me the whole time, but, I am being marinated, is that the term?" @AOC
"Wow @DisguisedToast really went into that last game, said with his whole heart, I would not marinate a congresswoman, and that's exactly what happened. That's politics, right?" @AOC
