Dad, I’m about the same age as you when you left a war-torn Bosnia on a night filled with sirens and bombs with me, hidden in the back of a truck. You left mom and my two sisters behind. I was very ill. You both agreed that the chance of survival was greater if we all separated.
For two days until we reached the border you thought of only one thing: the survival of your family. When you reached the border with me on the third day, they pulled you out, tortured and humiliated you. They pointed a gun at us both. How can I ever truly understand what you-
have lived through? I will never know the hunger, desperation and horror that filled your twenties. I have grown up in a safe country eating the fruits of your suffering. I’m so proud to be your daughter. Everything I do in this life is for you. Happy (Swedish) Father’s Day, dad
When I asked him how it felt leaving his family, he replied with: “The only thing I knew was that I was leaving home. It felt like I was carrying a bag of memories with me, not clothes. My entire life was consumed between a departure and an arrival”

I’m tired of seeing this recycled argument. Implying that poor people shouldn’t have children because they’ve been disadvantaged by a system that offers them no support is eugenics adjacent.
it rests on an assumption that poverty is intrinsic and it drives a refusal to provide material aid to children in poverty. You think you shouldn’t help pay for a child to eat because you think his mother should have known not to have him.
There's an enormous difference between neglecting a child and not having the income to feed your family.
Insightful yet occasionally farcical profile into the painful gender dynamics within the alt-right, and the most complete, damning portrait of how morally bankrupt Lauren Southern really is. theatlantic.com/politics/archi…
Some highlights include her white supremacist boyfriend refusing to eat ketchup. “He won’t eat any non-European sourced food - including ketchup”
She had an on and off fling with a Croatian neo-nazi but dismisses it as “being too picky”
How frivolous and meaningless do we value human life that we can dispose of it so easily? Over a caricature?
The more I read about it, the more sickening it is. “However, a parent of one of the teacher's pupils said he asked Muslim students to raise their hands and to leave the classroom before they were taught about the image”
